Rising Stars: Meet Caden McGlasson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caden McGlasson.

Hi Caden, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always wanted to be an actor since I was a little boy. I remember the first time it became my passion. When I was about six years old I was watching Hocus Pocus for the first time and when the witches came out I was absolutely flabbergasted! I turned to my mom and said “where are these witches?!” She laughed and explained that they were not real, just regular people dressing up in costumes and playing make believe. That absolutely BLEW my eight year old mind! I told her “that’s what I want to do when I grow up” and the rest is history. Fast forward to today and I’m still pursuing that passion I felt all those years ago, waiting to make that little eight year old proud.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My road is no crazier, scarier, or rougher than anybody else on this same path. I’d say for me, the biggest obstacle was the personal debt I got myself into about a year ago. In the span of one year and six months, I got myself in $15,000 worth of credit card debt. It forced me to move back to my hometown in Colorado from LA, and work 60 hours a week between two jobs for nine months straight. The struggle was living in my old “Yee-Haw” town and working two jobs I hated and not pursuing what I love most, which is, obviously, acting.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
When people ask me questions like “are you pursuing acting?”or “what do you define yourself as?” I always say “I like to identify myself as more of an entertainer over anything else” I’m pursuing acting because that’s what I’m best at, but I don’t call myself an “Actor”, professionally at least. What I’m best at is making people laugh, holding the spotlight, developing characters, and performing either on film or on a stage.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I have SO many quotes that motivate me to take risks. I’d say my two favorite are “there are two people in this world, those who think they can’t, and those who think they can, and both are right”. The other one is “ if you’re tired of starting over, stop giving up”. You HAVE to take risks in this industry. I mean like career path itself is a risk. It doesn’t always need to be on this grand scale either. I believe everyone should take risks big or small, because no one, and I mean NO ONE, got anywhere staying in their lane. I love risks. It makes it that much more worth it when you succeed.
