Exploring Life & Business with Leslie Marmol of Virago Swim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Marmol. 

Hi Leslie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
When I was young, I would design outfits and place them on paper dolls. It was a creative outlet for me and something I always enjoyed. I put those dreams on hold and told myself I would pursue them later in life. Fast forward to a horrible experience I had while shopping for swimsuits shortly after having my daughter. At that very moment, I decided to design swimsuits that would make women feel their absolute best. I did not want any other person to feel the way I felt. My goal is to empower women and have them exude confidence from within. The term Virago defines a strong, resilient, heroic female warrior. It was important to me that my business name reflects how powerful we are. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No path is smooth when you are dealing in business. There will always be struggles that come along the way and most of the time it does feel like an uphill battle. The key is to embrace those rocky situations and allow yourself to see it from a different perspective. This in turn will allow you to come up with solutions and help you grow as a founder. 

One of the struggles that I have endured was thinking of creative ways to create content during the pandemic. It was an uncertain time that most of us spent at home. I decided to put myself out there and step in front of the camera to model Virago Swim. This is something I have never done but I wanted to make sure I was still putting out content. I am not a model by any means, so I was very wary as to how this would be received. The reaction was amazing. Many of my customers did the same and sent me content they created. It was a great way to pass the time while doing something fun.

Virago Swim is a luxury swimwear label inspired by women. Our mission is to provide high-quality pieces while making socially conscious choices. Virago Swim is all about quality over quantity. We take pride in designing timeless pieces infused with elegance. My vision with every collection is to create designs that will make every woman feel elegant and timeless. We produce based on demand to reduce excess waste. Our limited exclusive collections are crafted with clean lines, bold striking colors, and flattering cuts. What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I strongly believe in my brand’s mission, products, sisterhood, and memorable brand identity. This genuine passion that I have for my brand is something that customers feel and see. We know our customers and they know us. They know they are sure to stand out in our vibrant high-quality swimsuits. All of this makes them excited to be a part of the Virago movement. We empower each other.
