Life & Work with Steven Muela

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Muela.

Hi Steven, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Wassup ya! I go by Steven Muelz.

This is actually my 3rd invite back to Voyage and I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity. There’s been so much going on since the last time I was featured. Now entering my 6th year of videography and content creation I’ve gotten the pleasure to build my company, “House Of Muelz”, drop multiple collections of merch, and even go on tour with one of the biggest acts in music. Due to finding my passion of videography through a dark period in my life, it established the foundation of my “why” for House Of Muelz. We believe self-expression and creativity can inspire people to find their purpose.

2022 has been by far the best year of my career; from going on tour with Russ to dropping my 3rd collection of merch. In April, Russ was having a contest looking for his next videographer for the North American Tour. I submitted my entry at 3am on twitter, and within 15 minutes he reached out to me. He loved the work and it was history from there. Following the success of tour, I had the opportunity to direct two music videos for his next releases; both reaching 1 million views in under a month. For the next leg of tour, I will be working on my biggest project yet, a tour documentary.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My biggest challenge this year has been balancing the complexities of being a CEO for a company and also being a creative. A huge focus this year was to really lock in on building the brand and connecting deeper with our community. We deeply value every connection we make with the people that support our brand.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a visual artist who specializes in Vibrealism. A 21st-century avant-garde movement in digital art and visuals which sought to release one self-expression through vibrations. Vibrations in this context – colors, sounds, shapes, feelings, etc. It was the art form I created when I first became an artist. This also became the foundational piece to all my work, it’s what makes my style unique and dear to me.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up in Harlem & South Bronx was definitely a rollercoaster. The violence and danger of the streets really taught me how to be hyper-aware of myself and my surroundings; which later helped me develop great qualities regarding emotional intelligence. This ultimately helped me become a better leader. I pair all of that with a loving family and parents who really helped shape who I am today. My mother and grandmother were both entrepreneurs, so growing up, I was constantly exposed to this lifestyle. Seeing this from a young age made choosing this journey a lot easier for me.
