Meet Melissa Lanz of The Subscription Lab

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Lanz.

Hi Melissa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up in a family that didn’t understand generational wealth, I’ve spent the past ten years writing and rewriting the story of my future. I left my corporate job in 2009 and started my own company from my kitchen table with a $2,500 investment. The Fresh 20 is a subscription site that helps families get to the dinner table with more health.

It wasn’t a slam dunk. I hustled, failed, optimized, prayed, and kept working hard. Today, that simple idea has generated 8-figures in revenue.

Over the years, so many people reached out to me wanting to know how I did it. It was then that I discovered my true passion – helping entrepreneurs become bigger, better versions of themselves so they can change the world around them. I teach recurring revenue to business owners. I’ve coached hundreds of people around subscription and membership business models, helping them not only find financial success, but also a deep personal sense of fulfillment.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning a business is anything but smooth. Being responsible for your own results is a blessing and a huge responsibility. The biggest obstacle with business coaching is getting past a client’s limitations of what’s possible.

Once they get permission to dream, the work is less stressful and more rewarding. It’s important to understand a client’s motivations and needs. It’s not always money and knowing what success looks like for them is key.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Subscription Lab?
I offer coaching and intensive training to help launch and/or scale subscriptions. My work goes beyond strategy as I walk clients through implementation so they can get to market quickly and start to scale.

While most coaches tell you what to do, The Subscription Lab shows you how and walks you through the steps. You will get the guidance, support, and accountability you need to add recurring revenue to your business portfolio. Our 8-week course (Profitable Subscription Launch) takes clients from idea to launch. I also host 2-day intensives with creative and tech services by your side to fast-track results. And on a limited basis, I serve as Chief Subscription Officer for businesses in a growth phase.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The subscription industry will only continue to grow. Subscriptions touch almost every aspect of daily life from cell phone services to therapy. Businesses that find a path to some sort of subscription model will thrive. I’ve seen doctors’ offices, dentists and artists all make the move toward subscribers. It’s the future of business.
