Meet Stefan Fagerholm of LifeHacksLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefan Fagerholm. 

Hi Stefan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I moved to Los Angeles close to 15 years ago and though I visited many times before that, I quickly discovered after living here that I didn’t really know anything about the city. As I went out every weekend and explored new areas, activities, neighborhoods, and the history, my fascination with learning even more about this amazing city grow. 

Eventually, I started sharing my favorite things to do on an Instagram account called: LifeHacksLA. It started out as a way for me fulfill a personal passion of mine for sharing the best things to do in this incredible city of Los Angeles. And after a few years, the account started to catch on and the follower count just grew and grew. 

Since I enjoyed it so much and it was having great success on Instagram, I decided to use my background in marketing to help create a real brand and expanded into a weekly blog, a podcast, a private meetup group, and more social media accounts like Tik Tok. 

The best thing about having created this brand is the opportunities it has brought me. I get invited to Los Angeles experiences that money can’t buy, like media previews, VIP access. special events, and local celebrity meetings. Its also helped connect me to other great business opportunities, like an at-home party catering company I’m an investor and part owner in now called ‘Let’s Hibachi’ 

But of course, being able to meet so many great people and make new friends who are as passionate about exploring the best of LA as I am has by far been the best part. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As of this interview we have about 150k followers on Instagram, so people always ask me, “What’s the trick”? or “What’s your tip on how to grow quickly?” and I have to answer them that there is no magic trick or 1 quick tip to grow a real and engaged social media following (especially now). 

People see my large following now but don’t realize I was posting every day for over 2 years for basically just my family and a few friends. So, it was a bit discouraging, and often questioned myself as to why am I bothering to post every day if no one even sees it or seems to care. 

But luckily, I stuck with it because exploring Los Angeles is my hobby and something I love doing, sharing, and talking about anyway. If it wasn’t something I loved there is no way I would have stuck it out long enough to enjoy the success it currently has today. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about LifeHacksLA?
LifeHacksLA is a brand with a mission to connect and share the best of Los Angeles and Southern California with people who love it as much as we do. 

There are of course other large social media accounts sharing about LA, but some (not naming names) are corporate brands with the exact same accounts in every large city. In many cases, the posts being made about LA are by someone in another city and sometimes even in another country, who don’t actually live in Los Angeles or have any passion for it.

One thing that sets us apart is, whether it be it myself, as it is now, or maybe someone else in the future, the posts and all other content on LifeHacksLA will always be made by someone who lives here and truly loves L.A. 

Although we have a large and growing brand and that has enabled us the opportunity to work with incredible brands and iconic Los Angeles locations the best part and what I’m most proud of has been connecting a smaller group of super passionate “LA Hackers”. We have special meetups for this group with awesome LA experiences and many of them have become good friends on their own through the group and also do their own meetups. 

To find other people who share the same passion for something as you do, creates a strong connection and it’s lots of fun to explore that hobby you all enjoy together.
