Meet Debra Ray

Today we’d like to introduce you to Debra Ray.

Hi Debra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started writing poetry 3 years ago after my first Lady saw the gift I have. It was also when I had my 1st book published of inspirational poetry. My 2nd book is the story of some of my life, where I discuss my survival of domestic violence and drug addiction and how I overcame them both.

As of today, I’m still writing poetry, plays, and a children’s book series. I’m a part of a group of ladies who we came together to write about our fears of raising children of color. I’m now an International Best Selling Author.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never a smooth road, but I’m grateful for the bumps because they have helped to mold me into who I am today.

My struggles are when my mind draws a blank and I’m unable to write anything.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been writing a lot of personalized poetry, for weddings, birthdays, and funerals. I’m known most for my poetry. I enjoy it the most. I’m proud of my books because it’s me each time you read a poem or my story it’s me. I’m set apart because my writing is the truth.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Within the next 5 years, my writing will improve. I’m working on a clothing line for dialysis and chemo patients. I’m praying my play will become a traveling production. So that people will learn to survive instead of always being a victim.
