Meet Ryan DeFlavio of California Rent A Car in Culver City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan DeFlavio.

Ryan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began as a rental agent for a different location, as I saw the growth and excitement in the Studio Division, as branch that caters to the Film, TV & Commercial production world in LA, I quickly jumped on the opportunity to help with the operation when a job opening became available. In the first few years, we changed the way business was done.

We established a new way of efficiently delivering and picking up as many cars to as many clients as we humanly could. While at the same time, going above and beyond for our clients, with friendly and proactive customer service. After about 3 years of growth in that division, I was able to take over as Director of Operations. After 5 years in charge, I have seen steady growth and development of this division, including the expansion to a 30,000 SF new facility.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always struggles when running a small business, everything from employee retention to customer satisfaction. There are a lot more hats to wear when you are a smaller company.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the California Rent A Car – Studio Division story. Tell us more about the business.
California Rent A Car as a whole, strives to go above and beyond for their customers to make sure they understand the importance of customer relations. As a small business in such a competitive business, we stayed focused on our niche clientele and ensure they get better service than any other company can provide.

I believe luck goes hand-in-hand with skills and opportunity. When I found the right opportunity, I was lucky enough to have the skills to be successful.
