Julie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Transforming Me to We – that’s been my mission since I met and married the guy who sold me my membership at his video dating service way back in 1990. (I later flirted with him and asked him out…) We quickly married and started a family together. I worked for hubby for years and saw so much that was “wrong” in the way dating services, matchmaking agencies and online dating services were designed and being operated.
As a natural payback, having found my guy and having found my sister’s guy too, in 2002 I was inspired to re-invent the way dating is done, to provide a more dignified, more efficient and effective avenue for relationship-oriented love seekers. I launched my personal matchmaking & dating coaching company in LA in 2002 and since that time have privately registered over 36,000 men and women, primarily in Southern CA. We have a home also in Santa Fe, NM and have a beautiful community there as well,
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Obstacles? * Distrust. The vast majority of people who’ve invested hard-earned dollars in dating “solutions” have been frustrated and disappointed and thus have a natural distrust for dating agencies of any kind. For good reason. Slick marketing, aggressive sales tactics, smoke-and-mirror luring tactics did and still do prey on vulnerable people who sadly fall for the tricks of the “dating industry” trade. Earning trust has always been a challenge in serving my community. I lead with service, I love to provide a whole lot of value to my folks – for free. Those who are inspired to work with me privately always seem to find me. I never worry about where the next client will come from. We find each other naturally.
* Expectations vs. Reality. Do we have a shot at the person we think is hot? How to help people see themselves and others more clearly. How to find the words to inspire better behavior and better choices.
* The balancing act that it is to keep the company solvent / healthy while providing every ounce of value (service) to my clients.
* Being a wife, raising two boys while managing the love lives of so many people — and staying whole, healthy, grounded, serene and joyful personally.

From Free to VIP, anyone who’s single and would much rather be in love is welcome in my personal matchmaking community. It’s free for both men and women to be privately registered, eligible for matchmaking referrals and event invitations.
Matchmaking services are offered by invitation after an initial in-depth personal consultation with me by Zoom ($295) to determine expectations, key criteria, desirability and selectivity levels. Matchmaking services are typically $10,000 for a local search, more for a statewide / national / international search.

MItzvah Matches: This is the community service division of my sweet company. I do as many for-free introductions as I do for-fee. Matchmaking shouldn’t be only for the super-rich and the super beautiful. I look to provide introductions for my former clients and also for those who do personal consultations with me. I want to make as many love matches as I can before I retire. Fortunately for my clients, I am not very good at retiring…
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Over 1200 marriages Gil and I have created over 32 years. How many babies? How many relationships, how many vacations have happened for couples we’ve introduced? We’ll never know for sure. Helping a 65 years old widow to learn how to date again is as satisfying to me as attending a wedding for a matchmaking client.
Our two boys are grown now – they grew up running through the halls of Gil’s Great Expectations offices in St. Louis and Kansas City. They watched their mom build a successful company that has taken many forms over 20 years, and now each of them is old enough to be… here in my community. One is 28 and the other is 31. Mama’s looking out for them both.
