Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am the founder of Allbetter.
I was born in Morocco and migrated to the United States with my family at a young age. I finished my Master’s degree in Computer Science from Elmhurst College and promptly began working for Fortune 100 companies. Years of launching innovative businesses with growing success fueled my fire for measurable, positive results.
And as an immigrant, I experienced the frustrations that plague small businesses, all of which were exacerbated during the recent pandemic. The available apps for homeowners and contractors caused irritation, not happiness.
These pains helped clarify my vision. That vision is to empower the hardest workers – the ones with dirt in their nails and tools in their trucks. Let’s connect them to their customers without the middlemen. Let’s replace frustration with freedom – let’s make it Allbetter.
This means building an ecosystem working together on a common goal of creating a more fair, non-discriminatory world. My mission and vision are larger than the U.S. opportunities. I truly want to – and believe that I can – change the broken global labor industry for the better.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’re on a mission to change the way homeowners find local contractors and help both succeed in their jobs and their lives. The thing I’m most proud of the building is the Allbetter app. Our happy homeowners (Currently 12K+ users) and professionals (19K+ members ).
The current system keeps homeowners uninformed when it comes to finding and engaging trustworthy contractors for their home improvement projects. Selecting someone to come into your home can be a stress. On the other side, service providers have to overcome so many hurdles just to get the chance to meet you. The system is slow, broken, and encourages the wrong behaviors. I knew I could fix this. I grew up in Morocco where these issues were the exception, not the rule.
So, I built the app. I stretched my dollars and I made it work. I made work work. And I couldn’t be more proud. Not only that, but I built the app with the future in mind. I prioritized the privacy of homeowners and mitigated fraud with ML and analog methods, all to create a marketplace where you can find exactly what you need—and get your business found by exactly who needs you.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a young entrepreneur. I know the service business better than most. That’s because growing up in Morocco, entrepreneurism is a way of life – in fact, it’s THE way of life. In America, the service business and entrepreneurialism are viewed as passive, leisurely activities.
We must empower both buyers and sellers to win. And more importantly, empower our small mom-and-pop service contractors with the chance to carve out their slice of the American dream by connecting them with local paying customers and providing them with business tools to help them run, manage, and grow their businesses.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Our mission is to connect customers to contractors at the push of a button. We want to bring efficiency and transparency to the professional hiring process.
The American economy is filled with friction points, and where I’m from, we’re focused on getting things done for the best price with the best people.
My aspiration to streamline relationships between consumers and contractors could have major economic impacts for some of the hardest-hit Americans. I want to bring “May the best person win” to the home contracting and repair markets.
