Conversations with Jugashree Bisoi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jugashree Bisoi.

Hi Jugashree, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?

My first inspiration came from drawings from my mother’s old diary. The tradition in India is to draw traditional pictures during any festival and/or family event/s. I was soon inspired to pursue a career in art as a result of these early family celebrations.
As a child, I would convince my father to consider the artwork I had produced for our family-run publication house during the days when other artists were hired to design the cover. “I still remember when I was 14 years old, I created a cover design for one of the greatest authors in India that was highly praised in many forums…which started my career in fine art which never stopped and encouraged me to pursue a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Fine Art with many other achievements.”. My artwork reached a whole new level when I moved to North America and started working with great artists.
Working with galleries and art organizations, I collaborate with buyers and engage outside professional artists in art workshops. “Brokenbrush” is my recently published art magazine in the United States.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Each step (so far i would say) in this art journey has brought me a different experience and a lot of knowledge, so in short, this journey has not been an easy one, as we must devote ourselves to it and take it seriously and requires a lot of dedication.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
It was challenging to get exposure in the art field in the early days after I moved to the USA, but I gradually became involved with local art galleries and had opportunities to work with non-profit work organizations.Whenever I create something new, I am encouraged by the positive feedback I receive from the people, galleries, and buyers.

As far as my works go, most are abstract, but since I moved to the US, I was seeing myself doing more realistic, series-based work.
