Meet Craig and Nikki Herrera of The Training Club in Valencia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Craig and Nikki Herrera.

As an athlete her whole life, Nikki played many sports including softball and soccer.

However, Nikki found her real passion in the training room where she constantly worked and put time in finding her love for fitness. With 18 years’ experience in the fitness world, she has done it all. Nikki has worked with, and for, some of the best in the business. A major part of her expertise focuses on women’s fitness and the female body. She has worked exclusively with a female clientele for over 10 years.

Craig played Wide Receiver, Quarterback and returned punts and kicks while playing football at CLU from 2001-2005. Also, a member of the Dean’s List, a CLU Scholar Athlete, All SCIAC 1st Team Wide Receiver and Ventura County Star Offensive Player of the Year.

In 2006, Craig opened a small fitness center named Monster Fitness with the Caton family in Lancaster, CA. As General Manager, he helped the gym grow to a 17,000 sq. ft. fitness club with weights, boxing, kickboxing and more. Through this time, he taught boxing and kickboxing to over 30 athletes per class, boot camps, core stability classes, suspension training, quarterback and wide receiver instruction and spent many years creating exercise programs for children. Craig has over 10 years’ experience working in the fitness world; operating, managing, coaching and training.

In November of 2009, he was hand selected to be a part of the training staff at Athletic Gaines, alongside head trainer Travelle Gaines. It was here that Craig trained 2010 NFL Combine Athletes and NFL Veteran Off Season Athletes. Craig got to work along some of the best trainers and athletes on the planet during this time. Specifically, Scott Mitchell (NASM Master Instructor) and Sherman Armstrong (University of Georgia Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning).

Nikki and Craig have been training athletes together since 2008. In May of 2014 they started operating as The Babe Cave Training Club in their home gym located in Valencia, CA. Nikki and Craig quickly out grew their home facility and moved their 10 athletes into a local fitness studio with more space. Again, out growing that space, they opened their own 1,200 sq. ft. gym in the heart of Santa Clarita and welcome all athletes of all ages to come train at The Training Club.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always going to be obstacles or things that come up that can be distracting, but I always believe that hard work and attitude will prevail.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Training Club – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a strength and conditioning gym built around a class setting. As a company, we are most proud of the community we have created. We believe we are not only coaches for our athletes, but movement teachers in a “fitness school.”

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The Training Club would like to keep growing and train more athletes every year.
