Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Little.
Hi Dana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi VoyageLA! I would love to, I have worked in the fashion industry for over a decade; with experience ranging from Store Manager, Assistant Buyer, Designer’s Assistant, and Wholesale Account Executive where I managed all domestic accounts; essentially creating brands for corporations and this allowed me to work within a factory in Los Angeles, CA.
After years of helping companies, brands and independent designers grow, I realized it was time to facilitate my experience into something of my own. Dana Scott launched in Spring 2019 as a multi-brand platform, later realized that I needed to be able to not only create my own styles but control inventory and as of 2021, we have slowly shifted to manufacturing our own products and hosting solely Dana Scott offerings.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road and unfortunately, when it comes to business, I don’t think it ever is…or will be. I believe business is all about jumping in and learning from feedback and/or seeing what is working and learning to pivot. For Dana Scott, one of my biggest obstacles has been really trying to grow a brand while operating every job description within the company (IE: Customer Service, Designer, Product Development, Fulfillment, Marketing, etc.) After three years, I have finally passed off Fulfillment, so I look forward to the day where more hands are in helping operate and grow Dana Scott to its highest potential!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Dana Scott, we are most known for our matching sets. We have worked to solidify both our fabrications and silhouettes, when you have a fit that is spot-on coupled with a quality fabrication it’s a key role in any brand’s success and customer retention. Our focus has been on quality, building a solid team of styles that I can proudly stand behind; then offering those silhouettes in seasonal colors. You know the saying, “I need this in every color!” That’s our sweet spot.
Our category of loungewear/matching sets is certainly a saturated market. I believe what sets Dana Scott apart is our brand voice and marketing. We allow the customer to help with design & new collections. While offering products we also serve as a digital bestie, it’s a personal experience within Dana Scott’s socials. We have really narrowed in on women who love all things fashion, your “girls’ girl”, we are showing how to wear loungewear in an elevated style. Our simple aesthetic and lack of branded/embellished logo-driven pieces make it easy to style with your favorite at-home pieces for a chic, effortless look.
Any big plans?
Dana Scott’s immediate plans consist of building out new categories. Long terms goals consist of moving into the retail space (IE: Nordstrom & Revolve), as well as brick and mortar and owning & operating a factory in Los Angeles, CA.
