Today we’d like to introduce you to Dee Smith.
Dee is the founder of Closet D Luxe online fashion boutique and author of The Luxe Life: A Guide to Launching a Fabulous & Thriving Online Boutique. Dee’s first customer experiences were with co-workers and friends who admired her fashion style and would often enlist her assistance with photoshoots and personal shopping.
Dee developed a love for luxury fashion at an early age and after earning Bachelor of Arts in Business Management and Master of Arts in Leadership degrees from St. Mary’s College of California, established Closet D Luxe in 2014.
Prior to launching Closet D Luxe, Dee grew her reputation for exceptional customer service and providing a personalized shopping experience by participating in pop-up trunk shows throughout California. In addition to running her businesses. Dee enjoys worship, running, volunteering with children, and spending time with the loves of her life, her husband and daughter. Dee is also an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and The Junior League.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My largest challenge is time management. As a creative with lots of exciting ideas, I must be mindful of where and how I spend my time.
To efficiently manage my time, I am diligent about note-taking and reviewing my notes at least once a month to determine which activities generate the highest return on my time.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an author and online boutique owner, in addition to being a boutique consultant. Across all my businesses, I deliver exceptional customer service and a wealth of practical experience and advice. I am especially proud of the longevity I have been blessed to have in this highly competitive industry. When I opened my first boutique in Los Angeles, I had no idea that I’d be inspired to write a book that helps aspiring entrepreneurs start their own boutique or that I’d be helping these same entrepreneurs with hands-on guidance through my workshops!
I believe what sets me apart from others is my strong attention to detail and professionalism which comes across in the shopping and consulting experiences I deliver to my customers.
What’s next?
I plan to continue to rely on God to determine the direction of my businesses. I am intentional about spending quiet time and devotional time daily with the Lord. The messages and ideas I receive during these times direct my path.
