Meet Jenny Kropp of Simple Coast Staging in Redondo Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Kropp.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My husband and I bought and sold houses for years for profit. Every time realtors would comment on the staging which at that point was just me getting my house ready to sell. Back then I had never even heard of staging a home to sell. As years went on I got the idea that I should get into that and when timing was right I started my company. My twins are three and go to preschool half a day, I’m a retired professional beach volleyball player and it made sense for me to move on.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No there is a learning curve for sure. I didn’t realize how much moving would be involved. I basically move a house a week minimum and although I hire movers I still can’t sit back and watch. So often times I’m hustling around moving everything with them. I thought I’d be more of a creative type but it turns out I do both.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Simple Coast Staging story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a stager to realtors, home owners and developers or builders in the south bay. I pride myself on the quality of work and creativity. Like our name states I stage homes with a coastal vibe – always. I work in the South Bay where people spend millions to live by the beach so I find that is appealing to the target market where we live and work. I’m most proud of the finished product, I never fill a home with stuff I have. If I need to I’ll buy a piece for each specific home so I know the furniture and decor look like it belongs there and wasn’t just what I could find.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I think I’m just a hard worker. I’m born and raised in the Midwest, Nebraska but lived out to CA in 2004. I’ve always worked hard and I think that attributes mostly to our life’s successes.
