Today we’d like to introduce you to Amandeep Kaur.
Hi Amandeep, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My talent was discovered by my husband’s motivation. I can’t describe how grateful I am to have him in my life. Funny story seven years ago we went to this Indian reception party. Back then I didn’t know how to do makeup or hair. I didn’t even know the basic of it nor was I ever interested in doing makeup. I couldn’t even apply eyeliner straight on my eyes. I was really bad at it. So that day I went to Sephora to get my make-up done and that makeup artist I don’t recall her name. But she did such an amazing job that made me feel very confident about myself. I use to be very insecure about things and not very confident in doing anything. I use to be a very shy person and not taking interest in many things. So slowly I wanted to try things out of my comfort zone. My husband picked me up and he looked at me and told me Aman you look beautiful I like how your face is so glowy. That made me feel even more happier about myself.
From that day I started taking makeup very seriously I would talk to my friends and saying like hey I want to get into makeup. I started watching YouTube videos and went to Sephora again asked about the products that I needed for my face. I took master classes from other famous makeup artists and hairstylists. Three years ago I started an Instagram page and started going collabs with other vendors to start posting my work. I started doing my family and friends’ makeup for free to get the hang of it. I realized that every time I go on a booking, I get very excited to make my clients look at their best I love seeing my clients so happy when they tell me how good I did their makeup and hair. I absolutely love that feeling its the best feeling. This is all because of my husband’s support, motivation and my hard work. I am still discovering myself and doing more things. I feel like there s a lot more opportunities out there for me and I want to grow big. I want to achieve my bigger goals. Right now I am a mom of two beautiful kids and I work three jobs being a realtor, a makeup artist and helping my husband with his business. I am so blessed to be where I am now. I am so grateful for my beautiful family.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it wasn’t a smooth road, life is full of challenges and obstacles. I am so grateful to my husband he helped me learn about myself, learn about life and so many things. Without his support, I wouldn’t have discovered my talent. As you get older, you start to realize a lot of things.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Currently, I work with my husband to help him with his business and I work as a makeup/hairstylist and I am a realtor. I love doing makeup and hair it doesn’t stress me out at all. Other work yes. I am so proud of myself to be able to handle many things while being the mother of two kids and taking care of my house kids and my jobs. I didn’t know I had this in me. 7-8 years ago I didn’t know how to cook or thought about doing any of these things. I just went the flow. Everything happens for a reason. I use to think I got married so young and regret it but not so many good things came along. I have a beautiful family. I am blessed with many good things. I feel very special in myself being able to handle and multitask things. I don’t like wasting time I am a go-getter. I am a very active person. I have to be doing things I can’t sit on the couch and watch TV for hours. I have goals and I have bigger things ahead of me that I am aiming for which some are unknown. But I like to go with the flow wherever the universe takes me.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I like to see myself doing more bridal bookings and travel. I am going to open my own beauty brand. I want to shift into more skin care as well.
