Meet Sophia Jaime

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Jaime.

Hi Sophia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
There was always a fascination for me within the beauty community, especially makeup. I was surprised that there were specific categories such as makeup, hair, nails, etc. and it wasn’t till 2019 that I got more in-depth of the nail community. I went to a local nail salon because I found a neat nail set I was destined to get done. After showing the nail technician what I wanted, they explained that they could not accomplish the look nor did they have a nail technician that was able to do so. It left me questioning, what if I learned to do this? And that is when my passion really sparked. I dove into learning full force and I ended up meeting and connecting with so many great souls that have and continue to benefit me for the better within the beauty community. This cannot be simple throughout the path that was smooth, no, there were many trials and errors and many times that I have felt that I was not cut out for the beauty industry. I learned and continue to learn that this is a growing and inspirational community. We all have our own definition of art that we create and we too must enjoy the journey along the way.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It truthfully has not. I began my journey in 2019 and now in 2022, I am seeing my hard work come to light. There have been many struggles such as practicing on family and friends and accidentally cutting their cuticles, using too much product, applying nails crooked, not knowing how to polish a nail, making impulsive decisions that were a loss of money, early mornings and late nights with going to school, work and creating content, balancing personal and business life and probably bothering my followers by constantly promoting myself in my groups, personal and business pages. Especially at the very beginning, I was giving away and doing giveaway contests to build clientele which I know now can be hard to do when you are first starting your business. I struggled with confidence and often compared my work to others. I also struggled a lot with nail art and was intimidated when clients would tell me to freestyle their set. Lol, fake it till you make it and always communicate with your clients about your comforts and discomforts before their appointment. You want to be prepared and adapt quickly to any given situation.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do nails and specialize in structured gel manicures, gel-x and acrylic nails. I believe I am most known for my specialization in gel-x nails, which are nail extensions that cover the entire nail plate, as it is one of the trendiest styles today. I am most proud of my will to learn, attempt and apply myself. That goes towards my entire life, personally and professionally. There is always room for growth and the will to learn has endless possibilities on where you can take yourself in life, no matter the challenges one may come to face with. I believe what sets me apart from others is my vulnerability. I am not afraid to share my process and my progress all while drawing inspiration from other artists. I am also detailed, not a perfectionist because nothing in life is perfect but I do my best to cut close. I have an open mind to ideas that are brought in and always show commitment to give my client my absolute best.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
