Hidden Gems: Meet Catalina “Kitty” Martone of Healthy Gut Girl

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catalina “Kitty” Martone.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My husband and I started Dedicated Wellness offering nutrition and chiropractic care to Los Angeles for 17 years. My work has transitioned into focusing on women with hormone-related gut issues. I struggled with infertility throughout my life and decided to start a Facebook group called the estrogen dominance support group.. That’s when I met Ona. She joined the group five years ago, had catamenial epilepsy which is a hormonally triggered form of epilepsy. She started a plant-based hormone support company and we began to collaborate. Sadly she passed away a few years back due to some heart complications and I have since become the CEO of the company. Carrying on her legacy of helping women to get pregnant, and balance hormonal issues as well as helping children with behavioral disorders and autism through hormone and gut balance. I have since written 3 gut health books, have a seven years old podcasts called ‘Stuff Your Doctor Should Know’, and continue to help educate on the connection between gut health and hormones.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My infertility struggles were the road that led me to help so many. However, the precious info I acquired was a little too late to apply towards my own journey.

The bittersweet result is helping so many women with their struggles and seeing so many healthy babies being born as a result!

Another rough road, losing Ona was a heartbreaking time. We had just begun to plant the seeds of the fruit that I am blessed to see now.

We’ve been impressed with Healthy Gut Girl, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have always offered gut-centered nutritional counseling and education. I have worked with some nutritional Giants and mentored under people such as Dr Robert Marshall and Donna Gates. Combining that work with seven years of hormonal and metabolic research and now heading a company that offers plant-based hormone support to men women and even children is not only unique and different and addresses root causes but it’s also part of a much larger movement towards naturally balancing one of the most difficult struggles every human has to deal with at some point in their lives. I enjoy using my social outreach on Instagram and Facebook to help educate learn and share and dig in deeper in this field of work.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I have lived in Venice for almost 30 years. I have seen it go through so many different iterations and at its core, I love everything it’s about. We have such incredible access to an abundance of healthy food delicious cuisine wonderful art loads of health practitioners and trainers and of course, the weather supports a healthy lifestyle as well. I’ve seen some of the saddest things I have ever seen throughout my travels all over the world here in Los Angeles in the last two years. Things that I think did not have to happen, policy changes that could have prevented much of what we saw and are still seeing. I pray for our city every day. And I have great hope for a rebirth.
