Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Fisher.
Hi Michael, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started Magic Mike’s Mobile Detailing as a tribute to my father’s passing in 2017. My father owned multiple businesses and I always aspired to be like him when I grew older. So in 2017, I made a conscious decision to launch my first business. I always envisioned my business expanding large enough to employ others in my community. I understood business may fail within the first year, however, I knew I had to give it a shot. I believe in seeing things through, if a task is once begun never leave it till it’s done! I was well aware of what I was getting myself into with my first business. Since I wasn’t well versed in business structure there was an enormous learning curve I had to overcome. There was a lot of sleepless nights and long days to build the mental and physical strength in becoming a business owner. However, over the years I’ve learned how to conduct good business and have expanded throughout the city, now being able to employ people in my community.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There has been a big learning curve with just starting and growing a business. Some of the biggest things I faced when starting out were how to price my goods and services as well as time management. I was overbooked with underpriced labor thus losing money in the end. The biggest thing for me in my journey to success was not quitting there’s been plenty of days where the end did not justify the means but in the long run I knew I was building a long-term business not just fulfilling the need to make money. And that’s when it clicked for me and business was able to take off. I focused on my quality of work rather than the quantity of work. I may not be the most affordable but I am one of the best at what I do. And my reputation for quality work is the reason why I am still in business today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
One of the biggest things that grew my business apart from others was my marketing skills. I am an avid photographer and videographer. And I use those skills to propel my business on social media platforms to the next level. I came up with catchy slogans as well as marketing tactics such as text Messaging blasts and paid referrals.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I’ll plan to be at the household car wash brand in San Diego within the next five or ten years. I want to be known as the mobile car wash of San Diego. My latest marketing strategy has been my monthly subscription and I plan to promote more this upcoming year.
