Community Highlights: Meet Patrick Davis, MD

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Davis, MD.

Hi Dr. Davis, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a facial plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, but the road to get here was winding. I thought I would pursue a career in my college major, diplomacy and foreign affairs, however, during my time as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic, I had the opportunity to act as a translator for surgical medical missions. After that, medicine became my passion and I embarked on a 12-year journey to become a facial plastic surgeon. I have been fortunate to train at some of the nation’s leading universities, including Bennington College, Indiana University School of Medicine, and Emory University for residency in Head and Neck Surgery. After moving to Los Angeles for a facial plastic surgery fellowship in Beverly Hills, my wife and I fell in love with the area and decided to open a practice here. I couldn’t be happier here.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I was a Division 1 Quarterback at Miami University, my coach would say, “Have a plan, work the plan, and plan for the unexpected.” The unexpected inevitably happens but I’ve always seen struggles as opportunities for growth. For instance, medical training is never easy, yet I have found it to be as rewarding as it is demanding. During my journey, I have had the opportunity to focus deeply on mastering a craft while growing in my compassion and learning to be a true partner to patients throughout their experience.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a facial plastic surgeon, which means I am trained in and focus exclusively on surgeries of the face, neck, and scalp. I’m most known for a type of procedure called the deep plane facelift. This procedure lifts the deep, structural elements of the face and places them back to where they once were. Most of my patients want to look refreshed, and still be themselves. The deep plane facelift is extremely effective at achieving natural, elegant results. I always tell patients that the best plastic surgery is invisible to the public–its seamless. Each face is unique and demands its own tailored, artistic approach. Working on a face is always a privilege, and I’m grateful for those who allowed me to help them reach their beauty goals.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Awareness, particularly meditative awareness of the internal narratives that shape my actions and reactions. Once I began to realize, “I am not this, I am not that.” Life became easier. I am not my joy, I am not my sadness, I am not my failures, I am not even my successes! Acting from this place of clarity, creativity, and love has brought me many of my life’s accomplishments and continuing to act from that space is my primary focus.
