Meet Alex Golick of Intensify in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Golick.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Alex. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 2014, I was managing advertising operations at a marketing agency. One of my good friends was managing an ecommerce apparel company. They were spending a substantial amount of money on advertising, but their spend was not resulting on any sales. I started Intensify to help their company improve their digital advertising and in just 6 months their revenue grew 200%.

Over the next year and a half, I grew Intensify’s client base through networking and referrals. At the same time, I continued to work full-time for a marketing agency and then DirecTV in operations, marketing, and data analysis. I quit my job at DirecTV and began working on Intensify full-time. Today, we have several clients in a variety of industries and a team with expertise in digital advertising, social media, SEO, web development, and copywriting.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest difficulty I have faced since starting my company is in figuring out how best to allocate my time. When you run a company, time and energy are valuable yet limited resources. There is always something you can be doing to improve the business, whether it’s enhancing client reporting, optimizing client campaigns, working on your company website, or reaching out to new potential clients.

My current struggles are two-fold. First, I struggle to find to time to work ON the business rather than work IN the business. I know that regularly taking a step back and evaluating, strategizing, and planning is crucial to success and it is easy to get swept up in day-to-day tasks. Second, I am still working to determine the areas of the business I bring the most value to and what I should let others handle.

Please tell us about Intensify.
Intensify is a boutique advertising agency los angeles providing digital advertising, social media management and growth, SEO, web design, and copywriting. We focus on providing businesses with tangible growth and utilize whichever tools in our tool belt are best for each client. I am very proud of our ability to speak with a client, determine the right services for their business goals, implement those services, and deliver outstanding results.

We set ourselves apart from other agencies by evaluating our potential clients’ goals and giving them honest feedback on what they should do prior to taking them on as a client. Recently, a business manager came to us looking for help with paid advertising and SEO.

However, after discussing their goals, we determined that neither of these services would help them and let them know they should focus on a direct sales strategy rather than hire Intensify.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have focused more on client communication from the onset. Our number one goal is to have happy clients. Originally, I thought this meant delivering outstanding results. I have learned that you can have the most amazing results in the world, but if the client doesn’t know about them or understand them, then they are not going to be happy. Comprehensive reporting and recurring calls and meetings are a must.
