Daily Inspiration: Meet Zaria Fyffe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zaria Fyffe.

Hi Zaria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Cresetta is more than just a loungewear brand. Our story starts with my great-grandmother — Cresetta. She was a respected fashion designer and seamstress throughout Jamaica; sketching anything a client desired and creating beautiful pieces. She instilled the principles of passion, meticulous design, and creativity in me at a young age, so naturally, I set out to share her gift with the world.

I created Cresetta, a 100% black woman-owned business, to not only honor her but to forge my own path in the fashion industry. Cresetta will cater to and celebrate the natural curvature and silhouette of all women — regardless of shape or size. We are committed to ensuring comfort and confidence in every design. Our carefully created designs will enhance the bold and beautiful spirit that naturally resides within us all.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has certainly not been a smooth road. Being that I did not obtain formal fashion design training, I sought to learn on my own and seek mentorship through others pursuing fashion as well. Entrepreneurship presents a lot of upfront costs as well, which was another major obstacle. I used my 9-5 job to fund my business. Lastly, running a brand is bigger than just producing products. I had to become a designer, social media strategist, marketing guru, content creator, financial advisor, and so much more.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Cresetta specializes in modern loungewear and lingerie pieces that are size inclusive and built upon comfort and confidence in each and every design.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk-taking to me is all about trust. For instance, I had to trust myself and take the risk to use my own 9-5 money to launch my business in hopes that people would find my designs dope enough to buy and support and eventually make that money back and more to reinvest it. I had to trust my faith and my purpose in this lifetime. Naturally, I have been considered a risk taker throughout my childhood but they were mostly calculated risks. I think taking risks makes life worth living because nothing should be monotonous.
