Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly White.
Hi Kimberly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
First, let me introduce myself, my name is Kimberly White, and an Inglewood Native (GO RAMS). A little more about me I am a student of life (literally and figuratively), plant mama, brunch connoisseur, the YELP of my friends, proud mom of KWINN, entrepreneur, occasional comedian, adventurist, and free spirit. I am the owner and founder of three brands SUNDAZEBYKWINN, THE ASSIST RESOURCE and ALWAYS SUNDAZE.
Let’s start with SUNDAZEBYKWINN, a lifestyle and merchandise brand that has been in the back of my mind at least five years prior to us officially launching on Juneteenth 2020. I have been a sunglass enthusiast* since high school which led to me being a personal shopper/stylist for my friends in college and beyond. In all honesty, I wouldn’t have been motivated to start my own brand if my daughter didn’t push me, she caught sunglass bug just like her a mom and here we are two years later.
THE ASSIST RESOURCE is my newest venture, we are virtual assistance company here to provide support small businesses and the busy entrepreneur. Our mission is to help them outsource their day-to-day administrative task, so they can focus on increasing their income or just being able to just have free time to create that healthy work life balance. The Assist Resource was natural transition for me, I have over ten years of outstanding experience in client relations and administration. I am currently an office operations manager for a small non-profit agency providing shelter to individuals and families experiencing homelessness and connecting them to resources to provide permanent housing solutions. My client relations experience comes from working with big corporations like MCR, Disney, Starbucks and SEIU Local 15. I’ve been a personal assistant to independent contractors including plumbers, security companies, real estate agents and janitorial agencies. I could go on forever because I am extremely passionate about being a supportive service to independent entrepreneurs’ growth and development.
Lastly, certainly least ALWAYS SUNDAZE is my outlet in a sense; the best description is a body wellness brand. I am currently enrolled in a massage therapy program and in June of 2021, I completed my esthetician program. This for me was always a natural gift I had and wanted to do my program when I graduated high school but instead chose a more traditional route. I love, love, love everything about being a skincare specialist and naturally interested bodywork education. If it wasn’t for a close friend of mine expressing how relaxing my sense of touch was I wouldn’t have been motivated to expand my practice.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Listen, I am not even going to hold you like every day is not getting on rollercoaster at Six Flags. I think the biggest struggle I had to overcome or find contentment in was having to take break in 2021 completely to care for my father who transitioned in June of last year and just processing the change and pushing to keep everything rolling. Other than that all everything in business is all TRAIL AND ERROR, you never know what’s going to stick. In example, merchandise is an always a hit or miss sometimes they love it and other times, it is sitting on the shelf for six months, compared to where when you are providing services getting and retaining loyal clientele is a large dilemma.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
SUNDAZEBYKWINN is a lifestyle and merchandise brand with a specialty in sunglasses (for now). Our goal for SBK is that we are all about versatility and inclusion. I want my guest to feel that consistent energy every time they put on my product, I don’t try to upsell my merchandise if it does not resonate. SUNDAZEBYKWINN is back and currently under a re-brand and expansion, be on the lookout for updates and catch us at your next local pop-up shop.
THE ASSIST RESOURCE is a Virtual Assistant and Social Media administrative support company. We specialize in administrative support services like e-mail and calendar management, research, data entry, human resources, and bookkeeping. Being open-minded while simultaneously focused on individual brands’ mission and bringing income back into our smaller communities of color or the “hood” while retaining a health work-life balance; TAR focus OUTSOURCE TO INCOME. Outsource to income is properly delegating the task or duties to the income expansion of the individual or business needs. I am proud of re-discovering the joy in providing support services to my peers and like-minded entrepreneurs. Mostly, we are not limited to just small businesses or entrepreneurs, anyone who can use the assistance we are here to help feel free to reach out to us if you have questions or want clarity on referring us to someone you know.
The essence of ALWAYS SUNDAZE is a holistic approach to long-term body and skincare. We specialize in facials, waxing, back facials, and custom massages. Our intention is to adapt our care to the individual, even though ‘time is money’, we want you to feel relief in the services you receive. I take pride in the natural reaction when my energy is grounded and instantly connects with my clients. I am all about healing the frequency and being in harmony where my guest or loved one is just at peace really does it for me. I am a natural nurturer by default no experience with my guest will ever be the same and it’s important to feel that exchange is not cookie-cutter and the love is genuine.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I have a big three with everything I do which is intention, integrity, and authenticity. In the past, I have been presented with opportunities that can compromise my morality personally and professionally; I NEVER FOLDED. Every venture I explore comes from a place a love and curiosity; so just being present, do your own research, identify what is in alignment for you and PATIENCE.
