Today we’d like to introduce you to HQV2 Creative.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We met in Los Angeles. Henrique moved from Brazil in 2014 to pursue life as a professional dancer. Valentino moved from Bulgaria in 2004 to Denver and in 2011 to LA to do the same – be a professional dancer. We met training at Millennium Dance Complex the year Henrique moved to LA. We quickly became very close and began creating together, choreographing, sharing ideas and eventually, in a couple of years, we became HQV2 Creative. We’ve build trust not only in each other as people but also as two creatives with different styles and different training, and can complement, support, and enrich each other and our work. The journey has led us to where we are now. Choreographers, movement coaches, and we believe we can teach anybody how to dance.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never a smooth road. There are always challenges when you are trying to pursue a career in entertainment. So many different traps you can fall into, not only professionally but personally. Your heart has to be in the right place and you have to learn how to fine-tune and listen to that voice inside you that tells you if something doesn’t seem right. Staying true to who you are as a creative and in terms of business when opportunities present themselves will make or break you and the relationships you’ve build and are currently building. All obstacles are lessons. Listen, learn, adapt, and let the music take care of the rest.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We like to think of ourselves as the guys who can teach anyone how to dance. As choreographers, we work with dancers of all levels, and with actors and artists, we have to be more than choreographers. We have the pleasure to be their movement guides. We help artists discover and expand their artistry through body language and movement. Translating the music onto the body and striving for awareness, understanding, strength, and control with each individual. We have developed a method that gives us the desired results. Everyone has a different body. We take the time to understand exactly what your body needs. We tailor the way we train our artists to their needs. We are currently working with a couple of artists – Naïka being one of them. An exotic, sensual Goddess whose music fuses the cultures of the world into something you fall in love with. Another artist – Shuba, who is an Indian diva with an edge and has so much fire! Both talented beyond words. We are also currently teaching at Millennium Dance Complex, one of the biggest dance studios in the world and the place we met. Anyone who wants a challenge and is looking to get better at their craft or wants to try dance for the first time. Our class is for anyone who wants. All are welcome. We love to share the gift of dance. We think that is what makes us different. We love seeing people following their dreams, succeed, and transform into their very best.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
What helps us be our best in life and in work is balance. We love working. To be able to do our job well, we need to be balanced. Taking time to recharge, recenter, and reevaluate is just as important as strong work ethic, the hundreds of hours we put in and holding ourselves accountable. Time spend with friends, time spend in nature, and time spend ‘unplugged’ can be very beneficial to the creative mind. Art imitated life. You have to be out there, living it and creating new experiences.
