Rising Stars: Meet Phoenix Nicholson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phoenix Nicholson.

Hi Phoenix, so excited to have you on the platform. Before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?

My first acting role started when I was three months old. I was hired as the baby for Angie and Jessie on the soap opera All My Children. I was on the show for 1 year until it went off the air. From there, I went on to do some print ads and then started doing national commercials. As of the last few years, I started working in film and television shows. I’ve also been training as an actor as well, taking classes and seminars/workshops.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?

Oh, it has definitely not been smooth sailing. At one point, I had to change managers because my previous manager didn’t think I “had what it takes” to be an actor in films. I ended up leaving her company, signed with a new manager, and not two years later I won best actor in the 4-11 years old category.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

I’m an actor and I take a lot of pride in the work I do. I’m known for being a very emotionally sensitive actor and apparently that comes across on camera really well. I’m very proud of having won the Nova Star Award for best actor in 2021. If something sets me apart from other child actors, it’s my tenacity and my willingness to work hard.

What’s next?

I really want to continue working hard and learning more about the craft of acting. There is always room for improvement. I’m definitely looking forward to having the chance to work with my dad in a tv show or film. I think he’s a great actor and that would be a huge treat for me.
