Today we’d like to introduce you to Petite Meller.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My career started in London UK, Island records
My song “Baby Love” was a huge hit in Europe but I always dreamt about living in LA and bringing my music out here to the US.
Growing up between Paris and Tel Aviv made me feel like a forever sailor, I have a big hunger for discovering new continents and folklores.
I visit Paris a lot and Tel Aviv beach town quite often but my home in the last years is in Los Angeles, Where I fell in love with its pink sunsets.
My first show was at the Neuehouse at Andy Warhol’s exhibition And on NYE at club Decades on Hollywood. I love to collab in my concerts with visual artist and create a whole experience of art and music, my next concert is going to be at a NFT gallery on Hollywood. Excited.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Baby Love was written when I was broken-hearted, a shout out to Everyone who doesn’t understand what love is.
The lyrics: Love, you don’t know what that means baby love disappearing while you’re here”, I dedicated it after to the African girls who were kidnapped by Boko Harram in Nigeria.
My songs might seems dancy but they’re actually coming from pain, For me to overcome and heal is through music.
My PhD in Philosophy is dealing with “Jouissance” which is Freud term which means -a Pleasure out of pain.
The New Album i worked a long time it’s time to release it this summer. The new song “The Drummer” is a cheer up song that I wrote as everyone around me were in down mood and I felt like my mission on this earth is like a clown of the absurd to uplift and overcome.
The Drum beat is a repetitive theme in all my songs, to encourage people to March to the Beat of your own drum.
I wrote it with Marky Style ( Royals and the Serpents) and Ori Avni.
The music video for “The Drummer” is actually about my intense try to stay positive, I’m like a warrior in that field, I grew up also in a very cynical atmosphere, where everything you do could be better, never satisfied that’s why I’m attracted to people who are over excited about things , curious and celebrate life, life is a present!
“The Drummer” music video was inspired by a novel from 1959 GünterGrass called “The Tin Drum” , “beat a tin drum” means to create a disturbance in order to bring attention to a cause.
I see myself as the protagonist Oskar in that book, Using music as a protest against Pessimism and bad news.
I wanna be the Drummer of LA to uplift everyone to dance their pain away.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I see myself as a lil’ clown of the absurd.
I think life is so absurd like what’s going on right now in the world, we should create our own reality, And Wear our Trauma Proudly” that’s what makes people’s style unique in my eyes.
In my first Album “Lil Empire” I travel far away countries to find my own tribe whereas in my new Orchestral Pop new Album I travel into myself, “The only way out is In”.
I don’t know why but I love to write in 135 bpm, my songs are the best for a gym session.
A lot of ppl I meet tells me:
Oh I just run 20 miles to your song Baby Love, I think my heartbeat might be as fast, lol
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I think I’m a warrior in the revolution against cynicism, I think that’s a quality a musician must have. There will be always be someone who will see the empty glass I’m here for the light.
