Meet Ashliegh Brokken of Brokken Images Photography in Ventura

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashliegh Brokken.

Ashliegh, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been in love with photography ever since I was a child. The moment my mom would put a camera in my hands it was if the whole world truly came alive. Anything I was sad about or angry over just seemed to vanish. As I got older I started shadowing other professionals and working with them. I started as just an assistant (Fixing lighting, running errands, holding the fan, etc.) I Then moved into second shooting. From there on I pretty much just took off with it. The passion was pouring threw my blood like I was born with it installed in my body. I knew from the moment I could hold a camera, this was it!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My path hasn’t always been the easiest. Growing up we didn’t have a whole lot but It taught me to value the things we did. Toys usually included hot wheels or things found outside. It wasn’t until I started working that I had the money to fall more deeply in love with photography. I went from wind up throw away cameras to canon. Growing up without the fancy things taught me to be humble in life. It taught me how to be proud of where I came from and glorious of how far I have come! You have to be humble in this world, there are too many people that make it and forgot how they got there.

Brokken Images Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
When I started my company it was mainly just models. I then moved into doing family photos and now I do it all. Anything from Maternity, Family Photos all the way to Destination Weddings! It’s so amazing to watch how far BROKKEN IMAGES PHOTOGRAPHY has come, it is definitely my baby! Some photographers want to focus their company on one set thing, I never did. I enjoy all walks of photography and I believe it shows in the smiles of every photograph.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success isn’t an item or money, It is a feeling. It’s confidence. It is waking up every morning with the same goal, TO BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE! When I say that I don’t mean to just saying it, I mean to truly live it. Knowing everyday is a blessing and you are here for a reason.

It is looking down the road of where you came from and smiling because you made it so far and you refuse to turn back now. It is the knowledge that you have learned, it is the kindness you have spread, it is the lives you have touched along the way. Success is making goals and accomplishing them. It is getting up when you fall and doing it all over again. It is standing out in a crowd and not trying to blend in. Be proud…Be You…Be Successful.
