Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Foster.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was an Assistant Store Manager, however, I had made the decision to “homeschool” my youngest daughter, and wanted to find a way to devote my time to her schooling, but would still need to pay my bills
I began searching online hoping to find an opportunity that would allow me to do both. I have a Degree, I’m certified with the SBA in “Helping Small Businesses to Succeed”, and have an abundance of experience that I wanted to put to good use while helping others.
I know the market and have seen how “digital” devices have obviously changed the way we do things.
With Social Media becoming such a huge ordeal, the larger companies have jumped on board and continue into the marketing sector, keeping up with the times, creating great content for blogs and advertising and creating backlinks and so forth, and are able to make the necessary changes, along with hiring to accommodate these specific areas which enable them to remain competitive.
However, the smaller businesses and the “ma and pops” are struggling as they are seeing a decrease in business, customers, and sales. They know they need to do “something”, they’re just not sure what.
With such an abundance of information out there pertaining to social media, marketing, SEO, creating content, backlinking, blogs, advertising and so on, it can get somewhat overwhelming. These are smaller businesses with limited resources and fewer employees,
The “digital” devices have not only changed the game but the playing field as well. People are using “smartphones” to access the internet to search for the items, products, and services they need.
It is “CRITICAL” that these businesses appear “IN” the SERP (search engine results pages), “ON” those digital devices- “when” and “where” people are searching for their products and services.
Surfside SEO Remote Services- is created. My main goal is to help these smaller businesses get where they need to be- which is in the “digital environment” so that Google searches and people can find them.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I can’t complain too much. The biggest challenge for me has been “time” of course, (and the fact that there’s not enough of it).
There’s a balance that you must try to maintain between family life and the creation and start-up of a business. It didn’t take me long to realize that it can become somewhat strenuous. There’s a very fine line between the two and some days it can be downright exhausting.
However, I found myself to be not only excited during the creation of Surfside SEO Remote Services, I actually had that anxious feeling and literally felt that I was on a mission. The quicker I could get this setup and ready to go, the sooner I could begin helping these businesses.
I used any opportunity I could get and would make a “B”-line for my desk and attempt to pick up where I left off. The problem with that was it was only little bits and pieces of time before my attention was needed elsewhere and I wanted to keep going, I wanted to do more.
All parents can relate to the fact that when they become busy or “have” to get something done, your child will automatically require/ need your attention. Its a given. My children are not little anymore, (29, 18 and 12) but for those attempting to begin a “startup” and have little ones, and there are a lot out there that do, I have the utmost respect.
So, I began staying up later. Waiting until family life had settled down, that I had done the dinner dishes, spent time with my children and everyone had gone to bed before heading to my desk/ office to work. I had found a time where I could get things moving along and wouldn’t be taking time away from anyone except myself by losing a few hours of sleep at night. (My advice here would be to stick to your required or needed sleep hours, maintain a healthy diet, and absolutely make yourself get up and move around, stretch, do some cardio, or walking. Get the blood flowing).
This was the biggest challenge for me, but I believe it was worth it and I have to say “thank you” to my family and friends for being there and for their patience and understanding.
For these smaller businesses, it is their livelihood, how they make a living, how they take care of their families and I am on a mission to help them to remain in the competition and achieve their goals.
Please tell us about Surfside SEO Remote Services.
SEO / Business Optimization- ensuring the visibility of businesses in the SERP’s (search engine results pages) and that they’re setup and structured for optimal performance.
Today everyone is using a “smartphone” or “digital” device. That means whenever they need to find an item, product or service, that is where they search from.
It is imperative that small business owners realize that they need to do what’s necessary in order to now be on those digital platforms- because that’s where their customers are searching for the things they need.
So, my first priority is getting them in the digital arena so they are found by search engines and customers.
I’m not one of those larger companies, therefore, I’m able to provide services at a fraction of the cost, while maintaining high standards of integrity and giving my full attention to each and every business
I truly care and am dedicated to helping them succeed and accomplish their business goals.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I can’t say that I’d do anything any different. From the creation of Surfside SEO Remote Services, through the setup process to where I’m at now, I have to say that I’m where I should be and I feel good about it.
I will be focusing a lot of my time coming up doing a ton of networking, getting to know the faces and people behind the company names that are in my spreadsheet. To mix it up, ask them questions, get to know more about them and their ideas and goals are, etc.
The only thing that I would do different or better (and that I recommend to others) is believing in yourself, trust your gut, feel good about what you’re doing and stay confident. Don’t allow anything to get in your way. Sometimes you just have to take that leap and like Nike says- “Just Do It…!!”
