Meet Kirstie and Maximillian Rickert of Kirstie Videography & Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirstie and Maximillian Rickert.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My passion for video and photography started as a little girl. Never did I think I could do that for a living. I was taught, like most children, to be practical. So I was stumped when people would ask me what I wanted to be.

I told myself, and God, that if I won any place the student film festival that I would pursue video/film as a serious career. To my own disbelief, I won first place and knew it was my destiny! Once I believed in myself, I started my own Video/Photography business. Got my own site, started advertising, and got my first wedding. I got better with each wedding and decided to hire a great assistant. We fell in love and got married! Becoming a husband/wife duo. We had moments in which we thought our business was failing but we didn’t let that discourage us. One day I plan to take my business to a film level.

We are currently booking at least 1-5 weddings a month depending on the season.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Certainly not! I’m not going to lie to you and tell you it’s been an easy journey. There have been moments in which we were dirt poor, disappointed, frustrated, and discouraged.

But in those moments, we still believed in our work and knew that we just needed to work harder to reach our target audience. We invested in SEO and did some self advertising and before we knew it, our business was slowly growing.

Every day we have different challenges dealing with clients that have a very low budget of and want 4k footage for their 8 hour event. To clients that wait until the last minute to decide that they want a videographer but don’t have. But that’s just a part of the job.

Being everything in one. CEO, customer service, marketer, website designer, videographer, photographer, editor, graphic designer, logo maker, SEO manager, receptionist, and much more!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kirstie Videography & Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We specialize in mostly wedding videography and photography. We do other events such as birthday parties and promo events.

What sets us apart is that we offer above and beyond what others competitors provide.

Instead of just giving the bride some pictures with a random video we get to know our clients’ needs and personalize their wedding package. As a recent bride/groom ourselves we know what couples want. We have a passion and love for weddings and it isn’t just a job for us!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We would love to grow our wedding business to the point in which we only do a few expensive weddings a year. And I would love to take it the film level in addition to that.
