Life & Work with Alexander Blackstar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Blackstar.

Hi Alexander, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Before beginning to write music, I thought that I was destined to be a painter or a poet. But deeply, I always had this passion for rock shows and creative personas since childhood. Therefore, the choice of making songs came very naturally to me, from the moment where I started to write ones with friends just for fun to the production of my first solo album. I saw that I had a potential to develop and to exploit, so I began to take the thing very seriously. While I was writing my first record “Facing Hell”, I met a few high-profile rockstars; it gave me the strength and confidence that I can make it too. Some of them – if not all – began their career ex nihilo, from nothing; and have accomplished so many great things. It really lit a spark in me, which shut down all the darkness around and enlightened the path that I was made to follow. I was convinced that I could bring a difference into the world and I still am to this day. When you have ambition that is added to passion, the cocktail becomes generally successful; but like in all great things, it needs time to mature. There is already a certain level of accomplishment in what I did, but there is so much more to do in order to get where I want.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t know any people who became a great achiever without any struggles along the way. As long as you want to make things happen, you will always have some obstacles; the more ambitious the project is, the bigger they are. So of course, I knew some struggles, but just little ones compared to what is waiting for me in the future and this is fine; there would be absolutely no honor of achieving something if everything would come easily. Everybody would be capable of being on the top of the world, and therefore no one at the same time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Well, my specialty is musical and visual creativity. Both are very important to me, and I couldn’t be artistically balanced without one or another. That’s what is setting me apart from others in the music industry, especially in the rock world. People are mostly focused on the sound and delegate everything regarding the visuals to other persons, which helps to maybe build a good product, but not a very authentic one. When they don’t delegate their creative part, they usually don’t consider it and that’s how the rock genre began to decline. We are in a society based on images, that’s why we need to shape our product by making great visuals, in correlation with good communication strategies. Creative direction and PR are essential if you want to make things move. I have a hand on all of the aspects of my career, from the music production to the video making, passing by the styling; that’s how I will be able – with time – to bring something different to the world, with the emergence of this new musical genre that I call “Neo-Rock”.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
All the people that I have worked with deserve credit. I couldn’t have gotten where I am today without these collaborators who trusted me, nor without the people who have supported me since the beginning. However, the essence of my ambition is based on my determination to succeed as an artist, and I know that only I can make the moves to achieve the things that I have in mind. So many other people will have a role to play in my career and I can’t wait to meet them, but I will always be the main person who will be responsible for my own mistakes and my own achievements.
