Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa LeBlanc.
Lisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
CoLabs Int’l. Corp was founded by me and my mom Dr. Laura Cohen a Board Certified Dermatologist in 2008 and KLENSKIN was born. We made it a mission to create a user-friendly and cosmetically-elegant line of skin care products that everyone could conveniently use and love. Together we developed the first and only Wash On sunscreens utilizing our patented QuantaSphere Encapsulated Technology. We believed that if people could apply sunscreen without having to change their daily habits, we could decrease the dangerous effects of the sun on these individuals. As mothers, safety and efficacy is our number one concern and have developed a whole line of innovative products to fit your daily routine!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As we launched CoLabs, we were well aware of the challenges women in our industry face. CoLabs is often inadvertently and mistakenly viewed as just a cosmetics or skincare company. Many don’t realize we have a patented technology that can be vastly applied to other sectors. We have spent years cultivating a network for both the technology and brand. While there are still hurdles we’re working through, we can continue our work to change the narrative in our success by standing true to our mission and our technologies, building out a strong network of support with like-minded individuals and identifying new routes to grow our business.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am most proud of the business that I have had an opportunity to be a part of since the inception and build here in my hometown of Huntington Beach. It is both a passion and full-time job that has brought vast amounts of opportunities and experiences to my life. It has also given me the opportunity to give back. Just last Aug. we put on the inaugural Swisher CoLabs Classic benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This event was hosted at the beautiful Monarch Beach Golf Links and included a celebrity golf tournament and after party.
It’s in those moments that I know what we are doing is really special and meaningful.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Florida was home growing up. I grew up in Tampa with my sister and three brothers. On the weekends you could find me playing soccer, swimming and hanging out with friends. In high school, I played the bagpipes. Random, I know! But we had some memorable experiences playing in the Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Gasparilla, and Disney World to name a few. My senior year, I was a Pipe Major.
After high school, I began my migration out west and attended Arizona State University.
