Daily Inspiration: Meet Saidon Richardson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Saidon Richardson.

Hi Saidon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In the 7th grade, I took a “World Music Drumming” class. It really introduced me more to rhythm and sound in general. At around the 9th grade, I kindly took all my musical information and ended up looking at YouTube videos on how to make beats. I started making beats on an online website called “Beatlab” when I was 14. At that time, I was attending ‘Blanche Ely High School’ for their Medical Program; at the time my career goal was to be a Sports Medicine Doctor. Although that career choice was a smart and stable choice, I found myself spending more time making beats and less time doing my medical homework. That’s when my parents advised me that I should to go to an actual school for music production. So in the 11th grade, I ended up attending ‘Dillard High School of the Performing Arts’ for the “Commercial Music” program.

By the time I was in my senior year of high school, one of the songs I produced (Weak by Mikey More – formally known as Floda) had already accumulated over a million streams. When I started attending college at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU, go rattlers!) I ended up getting my big break in between semesters. I had went home for a couple of weeks and ended up in the studio with hip-hop artist YNW Melly. About four months after that, the engineer (808 Nate) had called me and told me to send the files to one of the songs we had did with Melly that night. After the drop of YNW Melly’s “We All Shine” album, with me producing song #3 (Rolling Loud), people then started to take me more seriously as a producer. I then created my own placement opportunities by coming out with my very own album series called “Saicology”. Saicology is about taking all of my favourite local artists and putting them on one compilation album, all produced by me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I had to put in a lot of work to even get noticed for producing. From Direct Messaging hundreds of local artists on SoundCloud and Instagram to throwing my own Release Parties, it never amazes me how much work you have to put in.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
“Introducing SAIDON – The Most VERSATILE MUSIC PRODUCER IN FLORIDA”

I specialize and am known for my Music Production, Songwriting for other artists, Dj-ing, Audio Engineering, Marketing Skills, Remixing, as well as dabbling into rapping a little.

I am most proud of me for being able to take local talent and put them in the spotlight for everyone to see.

What sets me apart is that I could do any genre of music, and it be a SMASH hit.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I always knew ever since I was a kid that I loved to create, it didn’t matter what it was. Growing up, I was much of an introvert. I used to walk with my head down a lot, not very confident in who I was. It wasn’t until I started making music was when I started finding my confidence in myself and was able to display that to others.
