Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Licht.
Hi Jeremy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I began my career as a life and medical insurance agent in 2004 when people were being declined for medical insurance due to pre-existing conditions. Thankfully, that’s all a thing of the past with the passing of the Affordable Care Act in 2014. I love helping people put the financial puzzle of their life together so they can protect their assets, their health, and their loved ones.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being an independent agent is never easy, but it’s incredibly satisfying. I have built up a fantastic team of professionals that I work with that allows me to be truly independent. I have no allegiance to any one insurance company, product type and have zero quotas. I love helping people navigate through their lives and have the ability to change with them. I help them find policies to protect themselves (and their loved ones) as they grow older. It has also provided me with a wonderful perspective. When I started in the business, I was single. I met a wonderful woman, got married, and have since had two wonderful children. Going through these life stages provides me a wonderful insight into my client’s needs and wants.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Insurance is a commodity. There are insurance companies, agents, and brokers all looking to “sell” the same product at the same price. The beauty of insurance is that price is set by the carrier and doesn’t change. So, I set myself apart in one single way: service. I love working with people and providing guidance. Some people prefer to do everything online or by email… that works just fine by me. Others prefer a personal touch and to speak by phone… that works as well. I can flex and always be there. My clients know that when they work with me, they’re getting me, not an 800 number or a different person each time. You get me and never need to push zero to speak to a human – and my service is completely free!
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The crisis has made my business much more personal. People have had small health scares, large health scares, and sadly I’ve had clients pass away. Life and health insurance doesn’t insulate you from things beyond your control, but it certainly protects you from the insurmountable bills that come with a major health crisis. Life insurance doesn’t protect you personally but can provide a cushion for loved ones left behind. At the end of the day, it’s all about family and friends. Hug your loved ones tight. They need you.
