Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Mead.
Angel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all began, when I had this brilliant idea of using my amazing gift that the Lord has blessed me with. Ever since I was a little boy, I always had a camera in my hand. Taking pictures of sunsets was my favorite. When I was about 15 years old, I was having these dreams of taking pictures for a living. At first, I just believed it was some sort of fantasy and never thought real deep on it. So the following day, I went to church and my pastor was talking about how we have to embrace our gifts that the great Lord has blessed us with. So within a couple of days, I started thinking of how I could embrace my photography skill. So in result, I began to build this photography business. The idea of starting this company was not about making a fast buck, but about capturing those precious moments. I believed that one day this company would operate by its slogan, “Where Moments Deserve To Be Captured.” As we have been in operation since Dec. 2015, I have gone through a lot of hardships with this company. Some days I felt like closing the doors for good. I have put a lot of time, money, and heart into this company, to make into what it is today. I am proud to say that it was all worth it. As a company, we have received back to back awards for best session photography in the city of Moreno Valley. In addition, Good Times Photography has worked with hundreds of people, schools, and other companies & agents to full fill their need in a photographer. We have now captured many moments within a year and a half, and can’t wait to capture more.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Unfortunately, it has not been a smooth ride. One of the biggest struggles was buying all the equipment needed to be classified as a real photographer. I used up all my savings to buy all the equipment and advertising, hoping and praying, that it would take off. I did not get a studio booking until 3 months after I established we were in operation. Once I did do that one booking it seemed that it opened many doors for me. I now have many returning customers, booking for different types of events.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Good Times Photography – what should we know?
Good Times Photography offers many different types of photography. I have incorporated that we specialize in portrait photography, wedding photography, modeling photography, business photography, sports photography, baby shower photography, and newborn photography. All in all, we aren’t known for our photography as much as our photo booth. Many of our bookings are for the photo booth. Clients love it for parties, celebrations, and school events. In my personal opinion, I am proud of all the photography, we offer here at Good Times Photography, but I love our photo booth the most! As I see our clients having so much fun with it, reminds me why I do what I do. I feel that our communication is what sets us aside from other companies, as well as our prices. Communication because I want to build a relationship with the client so that they may return to my company as well as tell others how great we did for their event. Prices because I am not about making so much money off of one person as well as breaking their wallet.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel that my leadership, generosity, and organization all are important to my success with this company, Leadership is important in success because you have to know how to take control and lead in the right path of success. Without a leader, you can get lost easily. For instance, if you’re on a tour without a tour guide then how will you know where to go or where not to go. Generosity is important to success because although you want to be at the top knowing you isolated yourself for the selfishness of self-indulgence. You can bring others to the top with you. For instance, as a company, we have given free photography for many of our desired client that want to be professional models. It is better at the top when you have people there to celebrate it with. The organization is another key to success because sometimes you have to do everything yourself. For instance, when I began this company it was all run by me. I was the boss, employee, customer service, accounting & billing, and photographer. I was able to put on all these different types of career into one person with the help of organization.
