Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Navarro.
Hi Tony, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Once upon a time, we owned a restaurant and we needed our parking lot striped so we hired a young man to stripe the lot for us. We striked up a conversation and I asked how he marketed his business and he said he didn’t. I asked if he’d like to work together. I started marketing for him and then we grew into a company. I learned the ropes as I went along. I was a paid apprentice in a sense. The rest is history. We are now the leading parking lot striping company in all of Los Angeles.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Weather (rain) has always been our enemy. So with years of heavy rains, business slowed down a bit. The majority of our adventures have been smooth sailing meeting all types of people with different backgrounds from weed shop owners to directors of some historical landmarks.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in striping parking lots and Sealcoating. We install post, Bollards, truncated domes, signs, wheel stops and we work with our sister company MJ paving to provide asphalt and concrete services. We answer 100% of our phone calls and emails which we’ve been told on numerous occasions people in our field are notorious for not returning or answering calls.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Work 24/7. It will pay off eventually.
