Community Highlights: Meet Julian Andrei of Strada Eateria & Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian Andrei. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Julian was raised by a family of restaurateurs and he embraced theater as a career at the age of 14. Right after the fall of the Berlin wall, there was an explosion of art behind the Iron Curtain, and Romania was no exception.

Cafes & restaurants quickly became the preferred art venues for emerging artists, who were no longer bound by censorship and the norms of rigid institutions.

While a student at the Theater Academy, Julian was in the process of opening a Theater / Cinema / Art Gallery Restaurant in his hometown of Valcea, Romania, but the opportunity to emigrate to U.S.A. was too enticing to pass.

Two years after arriving to Los Angeles, after short stops in New York City & Miami, he became a managing partner in a restaurant on Melrose Ave. and open a theater company at the Ivar Theater in Hollywood.

Over the years, he was a consultant for many L.A. bars, restaurants, film festivals and art installations.

In 2015, Julian & his partner Naziana Herascu opened Strada Eateria & Coffee, a small bistro located in the heart of Historic Core, on 5th St. & Los Angeles.

They received a great response from their guests and moving to a larger location was just a matter of time thus, they opened the doors to Strada Eateria & Bar on July 1st, 2020, half an hour before the indoor dining was banned in L.A. County.

Since then, Strada Eateria & Bar has become a space where live music, art exhibits and food & beverages is welcoming all guests.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We had opened on July 1st, 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. Our motto is: Smile & Move on, focusing only on the things we can control.

We are grateful to our staff who helped us navigate these challenging times.

We are a full-service restaurant specializing in local ingredients with world flavors, doubled as an art & music space.

We are striving to become the most hospitable environment, where old friends meet & new ones are created.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
When the sun sets, to feel good about the day that passed.
