Today we’d like to introduce you to Hanna Sturwold.
Hi Hanna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began editing in high school and immediately fell in love with crafting stories. I’d create a story from any footage I could get my hands on! When I was 18, I packed my bags and left my childhood home in Chicago for Los Angeles. Since then, I’ve cut countless commercials, films, and documentaries. I strive to develop a diverse body of work for brands and stories that hold true to what I believe. I’ll never put my name on something I’m not proud of.
I’ve put lots of hours and tons of hard work into honing my craft, but the journey is ongoing as I learn from every project I take on! That’s the beauty of telling stories in a field that relies heavily on technology – there’s constant room for growth. Needless to say, I have a deep love for post-production and all of the stories, lessons, and people that have come into my life because of it!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been a smooth road, but one that constantly changes direction! I’m a big fan of going with the flow, which has brought me on a wild ride working on stories of all genres and mediums. In addition, the landscape for post-production in general is ever-changing because it’s a world that’s both creative and technical. As technology develops, so does our industry— meaning editors and artists constantly face new deliverables, new content creation, and new platforms. This is due heavily to the rise of social media, which we’ve all seen has led to new creative approaches.
One of the biggest beauties of post-production is that there’s something new to learn with each new project. You need to be willing to put in hard work to keep growing with the industry instead of being left behind by it. I love the constantly changing workflows because they challenge my mind and always push my storytelling one step further, which makes entertainment even more mesmerizing!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Hustler Editorial is a creative studio and equipment rental service. We provide a welcoming work environment, plus the modern technology and equipment needed for those in advertising and entertainment to get the job done!
The backstory: As an Editor, I often found myself working on-site jobs using unstable equipment in a windowless, black hole of an environment. Although I love my craft, sitting in a dark hole with technology issues creates an unavoidable feeling that bogs down both your day and your creativity. So, I created Hustler Editorial to provide a studio that centers around functionality in the comfort of good design.
In addition, as a freelance creative, I’ve become aware of the lack of community freelancers experience. Freelancing offers the incredible ability to work with diverse artists and companies, but often at the expense of community. To eliminate this void, Hustler Editorial created a club of creatives. Club membership includes access to networking events and creative showcases, along with exclusive member benefits and studio/equipment rental discounts.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Whether you’re just starting out as a creative or have been honing your craft for decades, we would love to have you as a part of the Hustler Editorial community. We can all learn something from one another, and I’m excited to expand our reach in LA and beyond!
