Hidden Gems: Meet Alex Foxman of Mobile Physician Associates

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Foxman.

Alex, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a board-certified internal medicine physician with over 17 years of experience in Primary and Preventive Healthcare. In 2009, I noticed a significant and growing patient population that had challenges getting to their doctor’s for visits to treat both chronic and acute medical issues. These patients included the aging, disabled and medically homebound. Without proper medical care, these patients end up needing emergency room or hospital care much more frequently, have a worse quality of life and ultimately would cost our healthcare system(s) much more for the care.

This is when a lightbulb went “ON” and I founded Mobile Physician Associates (www.mymobilephysician.com). We continue to grow and to date have performed over 60,000 medical and tele-health visits, managing patients in the greater Los Angeles area, Antelope Valley and recently expanding into Orange County.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Taking on a challenge to take make a brick-and-mortar medical practice completely mobile was not an easy task. It took a great deal of trial and error, thinking outside of the box, innovating and developing technologies, such as PriveMD (an “Uber for Doctors” App) to achieve our goals.

We’ve been impressed with Mobile Physician Associates, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As people age or become disabled, chronic and progressive medical illness make it more difficult to travel to a physician’s office. This causes patients to forgo vital care, which ultimately leads to preventable trips to the emergency room, hospitalization, and the overall deterioration of their quality of life. Mobile Physicians Associates (www.mymobilephysician.com) is “The 21st Century House Call”.

We are a group mobile medical practice that provides high-quality primary and preventive care services to the frail elderly and disabled population. We come to residents in the comfort and convenience of their community setting (Assisted Living/Board & Care and Home).

Utilizing our services, patients receive treatment that meets or even exceeds the level of care provided in primary care doctor’s offices and medical facilities without leaving the community.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love Los Angeles for its weather and the ability to enjoy different climates within 1-2 hours drive. You can hike in the mountains or a forest in the morning, fish in a lake mid-day and enjoy a late evening beach bike ride and sunset.

I love Los Angeles for its entertainment and restaurants which are some of the best in the world.

Los Angeles traffic is likely one of the worst in the nation making daily life challenging.
