Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Lem.
Hi Kristen, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been writing ever since I was a kid, and I remember designing my first website while I was in college. From there, I kept on developing both of those skills eventually branching out on my own as a Writer and Web Designer in 2017. My experience in both areas led me towards working with VoeWE Branding and starting Bi-coastal Babble.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say things went smoothly, but because of that, I learned a lot along the way. One of my first challenges was saving up money as a cushion before starting my own business. It took a little bit of sacrifice of course, but because I had a goal firmly in mind, it wasn’t too difficult. After that, getting operational things like contracts and invoicing were challenging but I figured it out, as all business owners and consultants do. And then there are always bumps in the road from client to client, project to project – but that’s what it makes it fun!

VoeWE is a brand consulting business that I’m closely associated with. We help creative professionals build more freedom and space in their business. We take items off of your to-do list, so you can focus on doing the creative work that inspired you to start your business in the first place.
What makes you happy?
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed my criteria for happiness has gotten less and less complicated…and quite inexpensive, which is always helpful! Waking up everyday in a warm bed and a healthy body and knowing that the few people close to me have done that too makes me feel pretty happy and grateful. As for more concrete things, I love a walk in the morning, speed reading through a page-turner, and oh – I love a good rainbow sprinkled donut, the cake kind.
