Today we’d like to introduce you to Simon Mashian.
Hi Simon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started working in the restaurant business when I was 15 years old – Johnny Rockets in Beverly Hills! I knew right away that I wanted to be in this industry where I had the opportunity to make someone’s day better with good food and great service. I studied Hospitality Management with an emphasis in Food and Beverage at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Since graduating, I held the title of General Manager at the Coral Tree Cafe in Brentwood and also the Director of Operations for Alliance Hospitality. During this time, I was dating my now wife, Mona, who during the pandemic, I would always cook for since we couldn’t dine out.
Once we got married and I continued to cook to impress, I would always make this sauce that would taste good with everything – she tells me – “Why don’t you bottle this stuff?!” As a good husband does, I listened.
We started doing this out of our home and the rest is history.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been many challenges along the way – inflation, high shipping costs, high advertising costs, food supply shortages. The thought behind all of this is – if we navigate through all this now, we are set up for success.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have always been a hospitable person. I enjoy hosting events, parties, dinners – just bringing people together. Bringing together with food, which is an international language, is what I’m most proud of professionally. My wife and I have found something that is vegan, gluten-free, non GMO, and tastes amazing!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was always clowning around – trying to make people laugh (including myself).
