Today we’d like to introduce you to Lizette Nevarez.
Hi Lizette, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My interest in yoga began several years ago when I began going to a daily donation-based yoga class in Long Beach. I noticed my mood changed after completing a yoga practice, I felt light and calm each time. During this time, I was going to therapy and really focusing on doing the inner work. I was feeling confused about what direction I wanted to go in life, I’ve always known the traditional path was not for me. I always knew I wanted to help people but did not know how to help specifically. I made the decision I wanted to go to yoga teacher training and graduated from Long Beach School of Yoga under the instruction of Rham Bhakt. My love for yoga grew more once I learned yoga philosophy and gained more knowledge. I remember thinking, “This is it”, I now had clarity that I wanted to help others on their healing journey. At this time I was in flow, I felt good and good things were happening to me. I started to feel grateful for things I didn’t pay attention to before. I wanted others to feel the same. At this time, I also visited my first sound bath in 2019. It was the most beautiful experience I had in a long time. I have difficulty tapping into my emotions, and my first sound bath allowed me to have an emotional release. It was the first time I experienced self-love. So many emotions poured out of me. I remember feeling so light and just overall amazing. I let the tears run down my cheeks, feelings my hands tremble, and thought to myself, “Is this what love feels like?”. I soon started purchasing bowls and recently trained to become a sound facilitator through The Sound Bath Studio, led by Erika Segura. I now teach yoga with sound baths and facilitate for others to have the same experience that I did.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I would not consider it as smooth road, but I don’t think anyone’s journey is. There was a lot of self-reflection, learning about myself and why I do the things I do. I am very fortunate to have an amazing amount of support, the only person that got in the way was me. I had a lot of self-doubts but the journey in learning about healing modalities led me to a journey to myself. I now have a better connection to myself. I would not change my journey at all, I’m so grateful for all the new people I have met during my journey and for the experiences I’ve had, they allowed me to flourish.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My mother helped me choose the name of my business, I wanted a name that represents growth and she chose florecera, which means flourishing in Spanish. I offer 1:1 yoga with a sound bath in the comfort of your own home or virtually. I also have monthly sound baths with reiki with a co-facilitator. My intention is to guide others on their healing journey to bring in expansion and growth. I went through the journey, found what works for me, and now I want to offer these resources and guidance to others. I don’t teach yoga for others to become more flexible, I teach it to help others to have a deeper connection to self, a grounding experience, and meet you where ever you are in your journey. And I add sound to bring the best experience for you.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The need to always learn more and expand my knowledge on various modalities. I have deep compassion for others and want to give others the best experience and outcome possible with my services.
