Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Kaiklian.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began my entrepreneurial journey in 2018. I was pregnant with our 3rd child and just finished my Master’s in Nursing program. With the stress of already living paycheck to paycheck as an RN, I needed a way to make extra money to pay back my student loans.
I was first interested in doing brows back in 2016 by Lisa Le who did my brows. I love how beautiful she made me feel and knew I wanted to do the same. However at this time, I was still in the middle of my MSN program and didn’t have the time to commit.
Fast forward to 2018, my Aunt Karen who also does brows reignited my passion and took me under her wing. It’s been a rollercoaster of a journey since but I wouldn’t give it up for anything. I love doing and teach brows and I love entrepreneurship.
Since then, I have started two multi-six figure businesses teaching ombre brows and teaching people how to grow their own business with my online university “B Baddie University” where I offer courses on entrepreneurship and how to get booked & busy.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road by any means. I started this business from my son’s room with nothing but personal savings and a prayer. I stacked, saved and prayed and in 2019 I was finally able to open my own salon. That was when it got really tough. You can very much own a business and not be an Entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is a whole mindset I had no idea about. I had to learn it all from trial and error which caused me a lot of heartache and stress but once I learned the mindset it took to stay committed to my dreams, there was no stopping me. A lot of sleepless nights and stressful days came with opening this salon. I worked as an RN 9-5 Monday through Friday then I would take brow clients from 5-9pm. On the weekends, I worked at my salon Saturday and Sunday taking 10-5pm. This went on for two years until I finally made the leap to fully dedicate myself to my passion.
My second business is dedicated to helping business owners become entrepreneurs. Healing and Hustling is my motto. We have to heal as much as we hustle otherwise you’ll be just another miserable rich person. I promote always healing yourself of generational trauma and breaking generational curses to make room for creating generational wealth… not just being a monetary situation but I do believe that passing down wonderful memories, a healed version of myself and knowledge in entrepreneurship is also forms of generational wealth.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We offer training and education in beauty services such as Entrepreneur courses, ombre brow training and of recently body sculpting training as well. Something I am very proud of about my educational program is the open door policy I have with my students. Mentorship is of the utmost importance when starting a business. I allow my students to come into the salon and rent stations and practice in person for an additional 90 days after the completion of their course. I believe that by continuing to provide this type of servant leadership into my community that we as women will build other leaders in our community to do the same.
What are your plans for the future?
I am so excited about being able to help more women start their own six-figure businesses. I see all my students who do the work to heal and hustle create the life they truly want to live and it makes me so happy to watch them flourish. We will be moving to a bigger location soon and I am very excited about this.
