Today we’d like to introduce you to RNA Designs.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It’s often said that boredom often leads to creativity. During the global Covid-19 pandemic, we finally had some free time on our hands and invested in a long-desired Cricut Machine for fun. We dabbled around with heat transfer vinyl on small garments and everyday objects for friends and family. Around the same time, one of our friends, who happens to be the creative genius behind Foodologie Baked Goods, shared with us that she had just created a logo for her Instagram page. It was no-brainer that we decided to gift her an apron with her logo on there to show our support for her, and it doubled as a way for us to test our machine out on a different fabric. It was a simple idea, yet it brought her so much joy. This lighted a fire in us and eventually our hobby turned into something so much bigger than what we had intended. Since masks were a required item during the global Covid-19 pandemic, we started printing masks with designs that matched people’s style or branding and passed them out like candy. That’s when our services started gaining traction. We received a text message on a Saturday morning at 7:30am from a company that wanted to order 50 masks with their logo on it, and just like that, RNA designs was born! We have been overwhelmed with the growing love and support from every single person along the way!!.
With RNA designs, we strive to make our customers’ hearts pitter-patter as they see their idea come to life in a tangible form. It’s those moments when a baker sees their logo on an apron, the camaraderie felt between friends wearing matching shirts, and that “love at first sight” feeling when a newborn baby rocks a custom-named onesie. These are the moments that RNA wants to be there for and to help you celebrate.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We’ve had our fair share of growing pains throughout our journey into building RNA designs thus far. Ricky is a sales manager at a staging company for Steeldeck, Inc and Amy is pediatric occupational therapist working in early intervention. There’s been a steep learning curve trying to balance full-time jobs, RNA designs, and our personal lives. However, being a newlywed couple and working through these obstacles together have really made us stronger as a team. With Ricky’s business background and Amy’s creativity, we are able to effortlessly bounce ideas off each other and balance each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
Once we unboxed our machine and it was staring at us, we had to figure out what to do and how to use it. Around the same time that we got the machine, we also joined the TikTok craze. It was here that we fine-tuned our algorithm and discovered hundreds of ideas and advice from seasoned professionals eager to share their stories. A few dances and hacks later, we spent our free nights learning design programs such as Procreate, Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and more. Information travels quickly these days, and anyone can become a professional at anything. All it takes is a little bit of research and time. We are so thankful to all the creatives out there who share their tips and tricks across these various digital platforms!!
We’ve been impressed with RNA Designs, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our business is customer service and the vehicle is transferring onto clothing. During the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, we were known for decorating our masks. The more we started to wear our masks, the more attention we started to grab. Soon after people around us were asking to help customize their personal designs on to their masks. Our equipment started to grow and so did our projects. Then came the T-shirts and Crewnecks for companies. It definitely blew us away how quickly we grew.
The biggest pride that we have is making people happy and making them smile. As a child, we remember how excited we were when we received a class sweater or a cohort T-shirt. These garments gave us a sense of belonging. However, these services weren’t always available for us and minimum orders were always 50 – 100 pieces. That’s where we come in. We want to help the small group of friends get their shirts without ordering bulk; even if it was just one shirt. So far, we’ve been able to put smiles on each one of our customers.
There is no limits at RNA Designs. We strive for excellence and make sure everything we do is to the customer’s satisfaction. We’re open to any design and we will always give it our best effort to make your designs come to life.
What makes you happy?
Seeing the waggly tales of our furry friends.
But really….knowing that the consumer on the other is happy makes us happy. It allows us to sleep soundlessly at night. Sometimes the amount of time that we spent on a project does not amount to the feeling that we get knowing that our customers are satisfied. Why does it make us happy? This is our goal-excellent customer service!
