Meet Jessica Escobedo of Feather & Leaf Acupuncture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Escobedo.

Hi Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey to become an Acupuncturist and Herbalist started from my childhood. I witnessed my parents struggle with their own health issues and as I became an adult, I had a few health struggles of my own. While attending Southern California University of Health Sciences to become an Acupuncturist, I was diagnosed with two autoimmune disorders; systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and Sjögren’s syndrome. Both disorders presented challenges that limited me in a number of ways of my daily life. As I learned more of the philosophy, treatment methods, and modalities of this ancient medicine, I started to apply it to myself and what I was experiencing. I began to heal and regain my life back.

As a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, I not only help others heal but went through my own healing journey as well. This experience allowed me to really understand a deeper meaning of what it felt like to feel the pain, the frustration, the doubt, the push of wanting to feel better and not have others truly understand the struggle of living with a chronic illness. So I made it my mission to help others to not only heal but feel understood, listened to, supported and provide guidance through their own healing journey.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road to starting Feather & Leaf Acupuncture has not always been easy. There has been many challenges to figuring out which direction to take when starting and where to land as a business with a mission. Some challenges being the doubt of making it as a business creeping in and not sure if what I was doing was right or if I was cut out for this. The momentum would fluctuate. But I kept pushing because I believe in what I do. I’ve seen some pretty astonishing results from Traditional Chinese Medicine. So I stayed focused, persistent, kept pushing for more for my patients, the future of the business, and others I could help.

As you know, we’re big fans of Feather & Leaf Acupuncture. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Feather & Leaf Acupuncture is focused on helping others to not only heal but to do so naturally. Introducing the different modalities that Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) encompasses such as acupuncture, cupping, herbal medicine, nutritional therapy, and movement techniques as well as holistic remedies.

As an Acupuncturist and Herbalist, I love to educate, guide and treat patients. I truly love working with my patients. I love what I do. This isn’t just “my job”, it is my passion. I have regained my health, my longevity and have a chance to assist others to a better life.

I specialize in treating autoimmune disorders, chronic illnesses, and women’s health. I love to utilize a natural approach using nutritional therapy and herbal medicine. I work with tools that are within reach such as something you can locate at the local grocery store or may even have in your kitchen cupboard. There are so many healing properties within our kitchen or household.

I feel what sets Feather & Leaf Acupuncture apart from other locations is the dedication to using everyday remedies to heal along with the use of TCM treatments while providing education and support during the journey. Being a patient myself, I feel I am able to connect with my patients who are struggling with their health concerns in a way that allows them to be heard and provide a deeper understanding for a treatment plan to be tailored to their needs.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is when I see healing progression with each visit and hearing my patients say the state of their daily life has improved. It’s a team effort.
