Exploring Life & Business with Sara Bianchetti of People’s Choice Beef Jerky

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Bianchetti.

Sara, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 1929, my great grandfather John Bianchetti founded Peoples Old Market in Downtown Los Angeles. His motive was simple: support his young family by doing what he knew best — quality meats. He started with nothing more than a few dollars and an indomitable will to succeed. His vision was to build a neighborhood meat shop that sold high-quality products with honesty and hard work.

Today, and four generations later, we have maintained our commitment to the founding principles of my great grandfather. Drawing inspiration from my great grandfather’s recipes and simple techniques, our beef jerky products are a direct representation of what makes us great — handmade, quality meats made for modern times. Before joining the family business four years ago, I worked in sales and account management. I joined the team the same age my father joined the company (over 40 years ago) and I hope I can continue to grow the business like he did before me.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Working for a small family business can have its difficulties at times, however, it can also be very rewarding. My brother and I are currently 4th generation and work alongside our father (3rd generation) and mother. We are fortunate to have different roles within the business so we trust each other with handling dedicated responsibilities. The benefits of working together is that we know each other so well that we know how each other operates and we respect that. We also have the same goals for the company and expect the same outcomes, which drives us to work together as a team. And above all, we know that family comes first. We genuinely love spending time outside of work just as much as we love working together.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about People’s Choice Beef Jerky?
We are LA’s original beef jerky company since 1929. We bring the old school to the new school. Our jerky is handcrafted in a family tradition that spans four generations and 90+ years in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. A tradition built on quality ingredients and a handmade process that delivers a better-quality, better-tasting, better-for-you jerky. This is not a trendy snack concocted for product benefits instead of flavor. This is real food, made by real people. Small batch, artisan-quality beef jerky delivered direct to your door.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Representing the 4th generation at People’s Choice Beef Jerky, I feel very lucky and grateful to have the opportunity to share our story and continue preserving a family legacy bigger than myself. I understand that I inherently was lucky enough to work for a family business that’s been around for so long, and I feel it’s also my obligation to take it to the next level and set it up for success for the next generation.
