Meet Jaden Shorter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaden Shorter.

Hi Jaden, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been interested in creating music for most of my life, I used to mess around on the piano with my dad and jokingly have freestyle battles with my uncle growing up. I didn’t actually start writing lyrics until I was about eight years old but after a while, I stopped and put my focus in sports and school. Even though I didn’t officially recognize myself as a rapper or an artist, I used to write to instrumentals on my phone while walking home from practice.

Coming closer to the end of high school, I really had to evaluate what I wanted for my life, I started producing and recording in FL studio a couple of months before graduation and realized being a music producer and artist was a very strong passion of mine, it was fun and something I felt I could spend my life doing so I eventually decided to go to college at Los Angeles Recording School to get my Associates Degree in Music Production. It’s been 2 1/2 years since I started and less than one year since I got that degree. I’ve learned a lot and so far, I have six songs out on all platforms, am reaching the final product of two projects I plan on releasing soon and have directed my first music video to a song produced and written by me. I may have a long way to go but I’m enjoying my process and still just having fun with it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have definitely been ups and downs along the process of creating, sometimes I spend weeks writing one song and sometimes I can finish a song within a day. Probably one of the biggest struggles is staying consistent and disciplined even in the moments when you’re not very motivated.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I want to be known as a producer/ artist, I’ve always loved the two but along the way, I’ve also learned the skills of a recording engineer and a mixing engineer. What sets me apart from others is having those skills and I’m not trying to ride a wave or sound like anyone else, I take pride in taking the time to develop my own style, my own sound, and that will show in my next project I plan on releasing. In my most recent releases, the ones I am most proud of is “Light Speed” and “No Fundraiser”.
