Meet Sarah May of Desert Luna Photobooths

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah May.

Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Four years ago, we started our journey in the wedding & events industry where we saw a need for a cute and modern photo booth experience. When we were working weddings together, Randall had about 3-4 hours of downtime where he thought a photo booth could fit in perfectly to our client’s wedding day. A few months later, we bought our very first photo booth and the rest is history…literally!

Brides were booking our photo booth left and right. That’s when I decided to take a step back from wedding planning and focus on growing our photo booth business. Randall and I both wanted to stand out in the photo booth industry in some way, so we both decided to spend our very first year perfecting our business. With that being said, we wanted to create a unique photo booth experience for each and every client. It has always been our priority to go above and beyond for our clients.

We now own three photo booths and are currently growing our Desert Luna team! We are so excited for what this year has in store and can’t wait to see our business grow into something more.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Don’t we all wish running a business was always a smooth road? LOL.

We have definitely had our struggles through the years. I would say our biggest hurdle was finding our niche. I believe any business can be successful with the right branding, amount of hard work and motivation. We believe all three go hand in hand.

Randall and I spent the first year focusing on our niche and what that looked like for Desert Luna. Once we tackled our branding, we went onto demographics and who we wanted to service. We believe branding, excellent service and having fun is all part of running a successful business no matter what industry you are in.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Desert Luna Photobooths?

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Sarah – I was definitely an introvert. Shy to the world and book smart. I loved going to school and learning everything I could. Working at Starbucks pushed me out of my comfort zone and eventually into the events industry where I worked for a marketing agency before becoming a wedding planner. I love meeting people and hearing their stories, from the first moment you meet me, you will feel like my best friend. At the end of the day, I love going home and recharging my batteries and watching a good movie.

Randall – loud, center of attention and loved being outside. Complete opposite of Sarah. Enjoyed fun over anything and hated school. NOT a morning person, I’ve always been a night owl. I enjoy the labor of hard work and working with my hands. My personality shines when it comes to events and you could say the photo booth and I are the life of the party!
