Meet Katelyn McCullough of Elwynn & Cass aka E.C. Stylebar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katelyn McCullough.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, my mother and I would attend parties and black tie events, as my father was a member of a golf club. For these events, we would want to get our hair done, our makeup, and/or our nails, and we just found the process to take a lot of time. Researching the artists, finding out the best one to go to, the timing, the payment, etc. was a lot of hassle.

When I graduated from the University of San Diego in Fall 2014, we decided to launch Elwynn & Cass, LLC (aka E.C. Stylebar), in the summer of 2015, as a beauty concierge service that organizes and schedules beauty services for all clients and occasions throughout Southern California. We match the best artists with the client or occasion, based on the experience they are looking for. Our job is to take all of the guesswork out of the process and make every event unique and personalized.

We are 100% women owned (mother-daughter duo), and we love bringing that personal touch to the clients and brands we work with.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I heard a saying a while back, that stated: “if you aren’t embarrassed by the first version of your product, you launched too late”.

By no means would I say we are embarrassed by the first “version” of our business, but we have definitely made some changes and adapted to the market that we have found best fits us. I would say some of the struggles we have had along the way would be finding our niche. Our business is really applicable to any kind of client or occasion, so some of our struggles have been how to target our ideal clientele, and I think we are really starting to hit our groove coming into our 2nd year.

Adaptation is a necessary aspect of a business because if you don’t adapt and listen to your audience, you will for sure get left behind and become outdated.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Elwynn & Cass aka E.C. Stylebar – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Elwynn & Cass, LLC (aka E.C. Stylebar) is a beauty concierge service, where we organize and schedule beauty services for all clients and occasions throughout Southern California. We match the best artists to the client/event based on the experience they are looking for.

An experience option is our mobile beauty lounge, an Airstream that we converted into a beauty lounge. It is equipped with 3 styling stations, wash sinks, barber chairs, a lounge area, A/C, phone chargers, music, and is fully self-contained with all power and water on board.

All services are mobile, either on location or with our mobile beauty lounge.

Services include hair, makeup and spa services (nails, spray tanning, massages, etc.).

I am most proud of the personal touch that we bring to the clients and brands we work with, as well as, the types of events we have gotten to be part of. I loved being part of Stagecoach this year in the VIP area with our beauty lounge, as well as, being part of the National Fit Tour for NYDJ with a pop-up beauty lounge in April.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am looking forward to seeing where this journey takes us. We are making lots of amazing connections with individuals and brands, that I am excited to see what develops from them and the types of events we will be part of.

We will continue to do corporate events, parties, photo shoots, brand events, etc. this year and continue to build relationships with the individuals, brands, and companies, we work with.

We would love to partner up with some Southern California brands for events and plan some really unique experiences for the attendees. We love connecting with people and are always open to new opportunities.
