Community Highlights: Meet Renson and Caroline Blanco of Bake Some Noise

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renson and Caroline Blanco.

Hi Renson and Caroline, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Of course, thank you for having us! For starters, we are both born & raised in Los Angeles, CA. Caroline’s professional background is in the advertising industry while mine is in Fashion & E-Commerce but I’m a DJ before anything.

How we got started in baking cookies is actually a fun story. Anyone who knows me knows that my love for cookies is a borderline obsession. I’m talking “have a cookie first thing in the morning, haven’t even brushed my teeth yet” kind of obsession. It was in the Summer of 2019 that we were both traveling in New York for work. There is a very popular bakery known for their cookies that we kept going back to because it was that good. After visiting a few other cookie shops, we realized New York had a lot of great cookie options compared to LA. As cliche as it may sound, we thought to ourselves, “This can’t be that hard; we could totally do this back home” and from there the idea of BAKE SOME NOISE was born.

Little did we know, the pandemic would hit not long after. With both of us working from home as the new normal and my DJ gigs on pause, I literally went from making some noise to baking some noise. This is when BAKE SOME NOISE actually shifted into high gear and we began tweaking our recipe more and more, with our family and friends being the first to taste test our cookies.

After that, it was off to the races. We launched BAKE SOME NOISE online from our apartment and since then, we have grown into a commercial kitchen where we are able to scale our operation. We’re shooting for a brick & mortar by the end of the year so stay tuned.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been as smooth as starting a business in the midst of a global pandemic could be. Our biggest struggle has been scaling. We only bake in small batches and to go from 12 to 240 cookies per batch with no formal training was tough. We made a lot of mistakes. What many don’t know is that baking is the easy part; the hard work is in the prepping which starts several days before an order is even placed.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
On the surface, we are a cookie brand and we simply bake cookies, but we see it as more than that. We’ve created something that we feel brings happiness to our customers, even for just a moment.

We consider our cookie to be a celebratory food. It’s something to look forward to. You don’t just eat a cookie just to eat a cookie. It’s not a cracker LOL. You eat a cookie because you genuinely enjoy it. To put into perspective, we’ve created something for our nieces and nephews to enjoy at school, a stress reliever for friends after work, and of course just something sweet to top off someone’s meal. Our view on what the cookie is and what it can do for others is what we think sets us apart from others. We’ve connected with so many people, who we would’ve never met otherwise, through our cookies. We’re proud of the community we have been able to make happy and that has grown to continuously support us.

We’re just scratching the surface and have a lot of ideas & plans in the works such as our vegan flavors, pop-up shops (going on now in Chinatown), collabs with other small businesses, more cool merch and as we previously mentioned, a storefront that will elevate a cookie beyond just being a cookie; it will bring a whole new experience as we continue our pursuit to disrupt corporate cookie America!

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
The initial plan for BAKE SOME NOISE was actually donuts; mini donuts to be exact.
