Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Goku.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a cannabis influencer and music artist. My journey started in 2015 on Twitter. I often went viral for smoking and comedy. Day by day, it grew my audience and I felt comfortable enough to start releasing weed related music. I made it a priority to be consistent in making weed related content because I genuinely just loved weed. As I grew, I began to notice there were other content creators like me, but they were making money and I knew I wanted to get to that point. I started to reach out to brands, created a media kit to show my statistics and from that point on my journey became more successful. As my content journey grew, so did my music.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course, there’s the occasional “I can’t do this, am I wasting my time, will this be something I can live on for the rest of my life”. All people have doubts, it’s all within the mind. We wake up and wonder what am I doing, especially when we have been taught to go to school, graduate, get a job, retire, then live your life. I had to go through convincing my parents and people around me simply not seeing my vision on what I wanted for myself. After some time, the hard work started paying off and other people noticed and that changed everything.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am most known for my cannabis content. I specialize heavy in making marijuana-based content and marketing myself as a brand. I also make music and am very proud of how my content as an influencer has made my music career flourish. What sets me apart is my willingness to take criticism and not let that stop my grind. Every day there is a new trial and tribulation, but it’s about how bad you want to get to that next level. I know I control my future and I don’t give power to anyone else.
What makes you happy?
Teaching others that they do not have to live that slave life. I genuinely want to see people live their dreams because I know how miserable it can be to go into that job you hate every day. I know how it feels to have everyone around you telling you what you should and shouldn’t do with your life. It’s watching that break free moment for others that puts a smile on my face.
