Today we’d like to introduce you to Chyna Payne.
Hi Chyna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been helping entrepreneurs launch their businesses and protect their intellectual property for more than 16 years. I founded Payne Brand Consults in September 2020 with the goal of not only helping people start their businesses but also helping them feel confident about the process. I aim to provide that personal touch that often can be missing at larger companies. I started working as one of LegalZoom’s earliest employees in 2004 & remained at that organization for 16 years. There, I was instrumental in developing a positive customer experience, leaving a mark by training scores of employees. Seven years into my tenure at LegalZoom, I transitioned from the customer care department to marketing, where I managed the company’s social media presence. I was charged with building a dedicated community of followers while also managing the brand’s reputation on review sites. That experience has enabled me to take a leap of faith and branch out on my own. So many of my friends and family would ask me questions and my tenure at LegalZoom taught me to provide a range of services with the highest quality of care, all while explicitly not providing legal advice. I give all credit to them for my wealth of knowledge and experience. During the pandemic and suffering a great personal loss, I knew without a doubt that I was ready to be an entrepreneur and I could answer the same type of questions for customers of my own. I can help them with simple questions they have. Either because they just want to file it on their own or maybe they want it filed but cannot really afford an attorney or maybe feel overwhelmed with the service of other big name filing companies. With me, it’s really a one-on-one experience, where you have one person managing your filing from beginning to end.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a slow process with marketing. I am bootstrapping everything on my own – no investors or business loans so finances can slow me down but I’m moving steady!

What were you like growing up?
Guess you can say I was a bit bossy, always leading the pack. I was the caption of my high school pep squad and prided myself on competing with my friends about the highest grades in school. I am a super family orientated person who has always been very close with my grandmother, my aunt and my mom, who I lost early 2019 to a sudden heart attack. I always knew I was never properly suited to work for anyone else but myself. I had to grow up fast and with the help of my grandmother and aunt, I took care of my mom starting the age of ten after she was shot due to domestic violence and left paralyzed for the next 30 years of her life. Had my first child at 23 and at the age of 27, I became a single mother after their father died of a heat stroke at work while I was two months pregnant with our 2nd child. After many years the love of my life found me, we’ve been together for ten years and married for six. I was built to be strong and overcome adversity. I have always known that you had to work hard for what you want…that’s what I’ve always done and will continue to do.
